LA office asking for another medical 18 months later

Hi there,

We are in the 18th month since the beginning of our application (outland US Citizen spousal sponsorship). Our application was transferred from Buffalo to Ottawa and now to LA in January. We just received an email with the medical forms attached. They did not give us any update on our file, just the attachment. Since our medical was done in 2011 when we originally submitted the application this was not unexpected but a little disappointing seeing as we have to pay for this now because they are taking so long.

Question being, has anyone else who's still waiting been asked for another medical? If so, any idea how much longer we're looking at? I know the medicals from up here in Canada are not electronic so I'm hoping that it's faster than our first medical and I know they sent it right to the Visa office but are we looking at another month or 6 months? Any ideas?

there are a few of us going through the Vienna office that had to re-do the medical as well. I've been told that once the medical office receives upir results (so 1-2 weeks after the actual exam) it takes about 4-6 weeks. This is for the Ottawa regional medical office. It all varies but a conservative estimate would be 2-3 months till you get your visa, could be shorter of course. We've been waiting for almost 2 months now since the date of the exam. Just get your exam done asap and hope for the best.
