CEC immigration
Hello, this is a Korean guy who is living in Niagara Falls, ON. I am a graduate student and my PGWP has been processed. I hope that i would receive it as soon as possible, maybe somewhere in Jun or July. Anyway, I would like to tell you my concerns about CEC. As a Korean guy, I have to go to the army for 2years (I haven't finished yet). The Korean government allows people who do not finish the army to stay/travel abroad until their age of 25. I am 23years old now and my passport expire date is on Dec 31, 2014. (Not able to extend my passport unless I finish the army) that means I have to get the PR card before then (I will be able to postpone the army until the age of 35 after receiving the PR card). So, let's say that I meet all the requirements for CEC and i apply it somewhere in July, 2013. Then, I will still have about 18moths (2013, 07~2014, 12). Following by the CIC website, the processing time is officially appeared 15 months. During the PR process, there is the last step right before getting the PR, which is called 'Landing' process. And what I just figured out when I do landing, it is recommended to have a valid passport date, at least 6months. Like I mentioned above, logically, my passport date will be left about 3months.(18months minus 15months). Will I be rejected the PR card due to this length of the passport date? If I explain my circumstance, they will understand me? Finally, what I understand is that I need to work as a full time job(37.5hrs) for one year but my work time is kind of very vary. This is because; my employer gives me shorter than 37.5hrs when the restaurant is not busy. On the other hands, when the restaurant is busy, the employer gives me more than 37.5hrs. That is why I mentioned it really depends on the restaurant's situation. So, let's say I work approximately for 35hrs (average) per a week. Does that mean the hours I work are not counting towards CEC requirements? I know that the total amount of hours required for one year is 1950hrs. So, for me, it will technically take about 14months (35hrs times 56weeks). However, again, it is still not 37.5hrs per a week. Am I disqualified?
