Quick question: for outland PR app, it says "Family Relation Certificate and one certified true translation into French or English of your Family
Relation Certificate. This document should have been recently issued." for S. Korean app. However, I'm applying inland. Do I still need this? As far as I can see (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp), it's just passport + immigration status + birth certificate (translated and certified).

Am I mistaken?

Thanks.

you'd better submit it to prove the applicants' family relation
like you send a copy of your passport to identify yourself.

Anyway you might need a lot of documents from South Korea.
It's just one piece of paper and it costs almost nothing for that.

Good luck

If the inland application doesn't ask for it, then you don't need to provide it. Outland app checklists are just for outland apps, not inland.

If you've lived in S.Korea at all for at least 6 months since age 18, you'll also need a Korean police check with certified translation to english.

Also in general, since Koreans are visa exempt to Canada it's usually recommended to apply outland rather than inland for quicker processing and ability to enter and leave Canada during the processing time. Inland stage 1 is taking 11 months these days, while an outland application could probably be done in around that time through Manila. However as long as you weigh the pros and cons of each, it's up to you.

Thanks. I will get it anyways then, just in case. I don't think we need it, but...

It's actually for my spouse, who is Korean and has lived in Canada for the last 3 years with a valid LMO and working permit. We're applying inland (after weighing the options) because she wants OWP, and has no reason to leave. So, the advantages for inland are far greater than outland, for us :).

Keep in mind she could continue to work under her LMO while an outland PR app is in process. As i said, applying inland she won't get OWP until around 11 months later.

Take a look at the Manila thread to see current times, and for a visa-exempt applicant 11 months should be a safe assumption for total PR processing. So just saying... i don't see much advantage to you applying inland, unless her LMO is about to expire and you can't renew it so really need the implied status. Good luck with either way you choose!
