I was curious...alot of people that send their children to live abroad with one parent are in the childs life still. So arn't you more just expected to show she's given approval for this move, and given full custody to the father? Or does a mother literally have to have abandoned the child and have nothing to do with them for the child to come abroad? Sorry...this just confused me a bit so I was wondering.

Smoothie... If you read up a bit you'll see that Canadajamaica says that in this case the mother is not in the picture.... When both parents are availbale and the child is immigrating with one, consent from the other should be presentable at point of entry... Or court orders stating the same... Not sure if they'd ask for it, but I think it should be carried just in case, especially for an unaccompanied minor

Ooohhh... Canadajamaica, I just thought of something else... Bring his immunization card... He will need it to register in schools and it'll save you having to run around and get it mailed...

He will probably need a few juks to get up to date... The menegucial (sp) one for example is standard here and not on the island... And get his chicken pox shot... My husband got the chicken pox within six months of landing and was miserable!!!


And if he doesn't have interim health coverage, a public health nurse office can supply these shots for free... Check the listings, or call Ontario health.. Clinics usually only have a few hours per week and fill up quick

Oh yes, I told his dads mom - who he lives with now, to send that . She has it and its all up to date, but I will call now to make a pediatrician appt for Tuesday to get anything he is missing.

I will def. take all the support letters with us. We satisfied immigration that there was not a mother to consider consent from in this case by getting a letter from his school which said they've never met a biological mother, that his grandmother is part of the PTA, pays his fees, registered him, takes part in family events etc. Also some from a few family members telling the circumstances of how the he came to live with them as a baby - all notorized by the notary public in their area. Then, his dad wrote a long letter telling how he's been supporting him from Canada since he came here, with the help of his mom and sisters raising him. etc. I'll bring all of it, as its all stamped and sealed by the notaries.... It should be more than enough evidence.

might be a good idea to bring a couple recent report cards for his teachers to have an idea of what sort of level he is at and the type of student he was.... but i'd not say it's necessary...

also if you're getting the boy the chicken pox shots, get them for his daddy too if he hasn't already had them (or the disease)... grown men with chicken plague are annoying!

I know the boys had the chicken pox already, he has a lot of scars from it. I remember asking his grandmother when I was there. (i'm so SMART!) lol but good suggestion! I just made a pediatrician appointment. so thanks for that suggestion - they'll send all the report cards too - she got those from the school last week. The teacher cried when she found out - awww so sweet!

I feel so much better already a lot less anxious, just discussing this i like this forum.

if only there was a similar forum for people who are going through the sale of one house and the purchase of another - lol we're doing that at the SAME time as all of this - (need a bigger house now!)

the sale AND purchase happened last weekend and all the conditions have to be met by Saturday on the sale and tuesday on the purchase. holy PRESSURE ! so there's a home inspection tomoro on my house and i'm nervous they'll find something wrong and it'll kill the deal . life = stress ~ but i'm still smiling cause all these stresses are great ones! right? 8)

oh thanks for asking the plans are all finalize i think we r doing it at 4season kgn in september now i just have to get my dress n other small things as everything should be done according to the planner...Joy for my friend she n her hubby as they are culturally married in their culture they are so so they want a canadian wedding but now the man is getting cold feet saying he wants his fam here etc which i tell him is not fair long story but will keep u in mind for her wedding as she will be having hers here niagara falls is what we were saying small 50 ppl although it may be changed to the big bash they wanted 200 guest

Kedeisha... I had my reception at the 4 seasons in Kingston and I thought the room looked very nice... we had around 60 or 65 ppl I dont even remember Oppps my memory is so bad... I would have to pull out my little book lol and I am too comfortable in bed lol... Anyways we had the small room at the top of the stairs... It was ok... I hated the pineapple chandeliers, they really threw off my beautiful decor... but I really enjoyed the food it was too die for
