Anyone know the process to get a police check in Jamaica, the cost, and how long it takes to get one?

Hi All,

I have been following this forum as I am sponsoring my hubby to come. This is the first post so please excuse if this does not come up in the right place.
I was hoping to find out if you have any advice on how long the process takes once the application is sent to Kingston. Med and Police Check are complete and online says he does not need an interview.

Also How to I get the option to put my time line on my profile I cant see anywhere to do this - the ones that shows everyone's on the left

Thanks

Rowena!

Kingston has been moving faster lately. I think the quickest someone got thru was 4 months. That was recently. The interview part can change when it comes to that time. After posting 10 times you are able to add the info on the left for profile.

Hi all,

I have a quick question about travel history and police check. My husband has travelled to trinidad 3-4 times a year from 2012-2014 staying approx a month or so. Not passing the 6 months. Purpose of trip to visit family. Does cic add the amt of time spent to be greater than 6 months when asking for police record from a different counyry?

I have another question my husband in JA got a call from the embassy to confirm identity. Does this mean our file has transfered to kingston?

Timeline
App sent march 16
App received march 17
AOR march 28
SA march 30
Meds done dec 2016

Hi everyone, getting ready to submit my spousal sponsorship. Have a question pertaining to national identity card. What is that? Drivers license? Forms are completed and signed. Hubby has a son from a previous relationship. Mother is in the USA for a decade now, and we are going to include him, although he is non-Accompanying. I just got laid off and now on E.I I believe I qualify. :'( (Crappy timing) But had a very promising job interview on Friday. Wish me luck.

What is the average processing time for KVo applicants. Back a few years ago, a friend said it was 27-30 months.

A few things to know the son will have to have a medical whether or not he is non-Accompanying.. you would have to submit a birth certificate and passport photocopy. As for EI, it is not a barrier in family sponsorship. Can't be bankrupt or be on welfare. EI is ok because you paid into it with your previous employment . For national identity card, my husband has an id photo card that is not a drivers license that we used in his form. Not sure if you can use drivers license as well. They have changed the process since Dec 2016 so it would be interesting to know if the time is going much faster now. We will see. I submitted mine in March 2017 and it seems it is going quicker then I thought.
Good luck!

Oh no! Sitting here going thru my paperwork that hubby signed last week during my visit to see him and saw that hubby forgot to sign another box on IMM 5532. I Will scan and email this page to him so he can drop in the snail mail. And the 2nd thing is I misplaced my envelope with the western union receipts. Quite a few over the course of five years. Anyone know if I can contact WU and ask for statement of money transfers.
