Congratz that's a good sign I'm sure it varies and isn't set in stone but we got PPR 4 months after RPRF request.

Fees were requested in July and we received PPR in November. We were apart of that last wave before the holiday slow down! Fingers crossed, yours comes sooner!

I've seen ppl request to have their Medicals extended (expiring next month) and it's granted I've tried it before but wasn't able to because I have a rep I then asked her to do and she advise that most times the files are completed before it does, I requested again today that she send in the request she's now saying there's no such request for her to do it's up to the visa officer if they want to extend it or not or ask for a new one. Thoughts ??

She is right it is up to the visa officer...when we filed for an extension we didn't get approved but most do. More than likely they will grant an extension if you request it. You have 15 months to request a new one....here is the link for the cic page discussing reassessments. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/medic/assess/cert.asp

Ok I just found it weird that the first time I ask her she said to leave everything as that was back in April she could have just said what she's saying now even immigration could have said that all they said was since I have a rep I personally couldn't do those requests and I don't know when they approve some ppl asking and not for others ah well what's meant to be will be

Newbie of sorts

Hi all - Im new to this forum - was on the FSW forum eons ago before I moved up and need your advice as this is a new area for me - please.

Im a PR here in Canada and my hubby who lives in Jamaica and I just got married when he came up for a visit.
I need to know if there is any rule against me being able to file for him as I saw something that said if you lived apart from your spouse for a year you could not file for them.

Our story is this - we have an 8 year old son together and were initially to move to Canada as a family under my FSW application but we broke up and he was removed form the app - Our son and I moved to Canada back in 2010 but we kept in touch always as our son was our priority and so we always saw each other on trips home etec- well - GOD spoke to both of us and we fell in love again last December and got married last week and I now want to start the application process as soon as our marriage cert is ready but want to be sure there is nothing im missing re filing for him -

We do have previous history and a son - but just want to be sure... and respectfully rely on your expertise :)

Also - has anyone on here ever done an In-Canada sponsorship for their hubby whose here on a visitors visa ? My hubby went back down as he has work - but just curious which is the better route to go - in Canada app our Out of Canada app.
Thank you - I hope I posted this correctly - yikes...

Oh I just love stories of divine intervention! Congratulations and God's blessings on your Union. Your son must be so happy. It's hard to tell which way is best but in recent events Outland applications have been processed faster than inland though theoretically it's supposed to be the opposite. I applied for my husband Outland 2 months before my sister applied for her husband inland the process is complete for her and her husband while I'm still waiting to be reunited with my husband. Solely based in this experience I would say an inland application is better given he's able to stay in Canada during the process.

Thank you so much for your responses!

Quick question Jamaicancanadian -

Was your sisters husband able to travel during the process or did he have to stay put.
I know you have to maintain legal status as a visitor or whatever during the process but just curious as this route is more attractive to us especially as we feel we've spent so much time apart and our lil guy would so benefit.

Thank you!
