ew.......... yuk, hahahhaha..... i used to also eat the jello package crystals raw too........ I will never let my child eat that rubbish... probably why we used to eat it secertly upstairs after everyone went to bed - we knew it was bad!

In england we used to do the guiness raw egg and condensed milk for hangovers! old wives tale.... but truthfully, the guiness alone works, or whatever it is you were drunk from... and left over cold pizza or ketchup crisps lol

anything wih raw egg i will have to eat without knowing....but then i guess the guiness would cut out the rawness..
I love guiness by itself, ice cold.

Confused we used to eat that too, white bread and condensed milk...mommy used to always be cussing and asking how the milk a done so quick. lol
 
my folks used to drink the Guinness with a raw egg and milk. Used to smell soo rank rank .. but I heard it's good... don't think i would ever try it though.

We used to eat milk powder with brown sugar or grated coconut with sugar ..... it's not that bad.

My partner thought me to eat mango chutney (West Indian style) with ketchup .... and it tastes yummy with fries, plantain chips or even boiled eggs

Have you guys ever eaten the plain raw rice?

just to clarify....... because some might not know that wheat flour is all purpose "white" flour and "whole wheat" is your traditional brown flour.... only reason I know this is because I added whole wheat flour to a recipe just the other day.............and it turned out to be horrible. So i said what the frig did i do wrong...... the directions instructed wheat flour and I used whole wheat flour... what gives man........ but little did i know that wheat flour is actual white flour, but its just not a whole wheat....Like i was supposed to know this... i was vex for a while.....

I guess they said wheat flour so that you didnt use, potato flour, or corn flour or whatever stinkin other types of flour there are out there.......... man, we all know baking isnt easy to begin with!!!

I hate whole wheat flour too i discovered, especially in dumplings.... yuk!

I noticed that North Americans put ketchup on everything.... everything... lol scrambled eggs, mac and cheese... I use HP steak sauce on a lot of things so i guess its the same!
 
KC I tried making dumplings with regular white flour when I used to live in Canada and it was an epic faillll for me .... you would have refused to eat it .... I don't know what it was with the mixture but I followed everything according to the online recipe .... ok, I cheated it a bit and added coconut .... but it came out so pasty and wet .... it was cooked on the inside but the outer part was like paste .... I tried frying it up after in some oil, onions and seasoning and it just failed .... I think a lot has to do with all the different brands of flour we get in Canada. You really have to be a pro baker or cook to know which type of flour to use.

I tried making a sponge cake last year for the holidays and the flour I used made it came out like a friggen 1 pound dry messed up biscuit :(

Are you from the Caribbean KC? How come you don't know about ketchup on Mac n Cheese .... that with some spicy hot sauce is the bombbbbbb

No wonder a lot of NA's are diabetic from all dem sugars in their ketchup

this is the recipe you've been waiting for!!! I made this cake three weeks ago, gave some to my neighbour and since then have had 3 requests. In two weeks Ive made 5 carrot cakes!!

Try it you'll love it!


3 cups of shredded raw carrots
4 beaten eggs
1 3/4 pounds brown sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cinnamon
3/4 nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt


I make a cream cheese icing from scratch.... just mix a stick of cream cheese with icing sugar a tiny bit of milk and some butter... and you have icing!!
 
LOL - first off I am at the very early stages of baking... I am not very good at all.... i am not the kinda cook that follows instructions cuz i like to add a little of this and a little of that, but you cannot do that with baking... everything has to be measured to the tee........... so i was not expecting it to be great... but i was not expecting it to be unedable.. LOL...

for boiled dumplin if i dont add lots of corn meal i dont like it.... pure flour binds me up bad!

no born and raised in UK.... still a PR in Canada - looking to get my citizenship with hubby in a few years! yay!

Shame on me... but i applied for McDonalds for my first job and they never hired me :-[ so i worked at Burger king instead........... which is where i discovered POUTINE......

When I was little and my mother would season her meat and leave it to soak I would go in and eat the tomatoes out of it :o Now I know about salmonella and all of the germs i could have picked up I dont do it anymore.

I love green mangoes and salt and scotch bonnet pepper.
 
mmmM carrot cake... I love tried and tested recipes... copy and pasted and looking forward to making it.... every had zucchini cake? that is my all time favourite...so good

Oh and another thing for vegans or vegetarians who dont want to use cream cheese or dairy for icings........ nothing better than taking raw chocolate melting it down and then mashing up a pear (avacado) and mixing it together and using that as frosting.... its sooooooooo bloody delicous and the texture is out of this world.....

Jammy, lol, you probably have a good resistance to it by now... all those antibodies... you probably couldnt get salmonella if you tried right now!
