I am very fortunate and do appreciate it. My MPs office told me Canada is really starting to crack down on the people that they've hired to work at the visa offices abroad because they're not following the procedures. One of my coworkers lived in Jamaica for 20 years and knew 3 separate officers that you could pay off to get your permanent residence approved ASAP. Then the rest of of who follow the law have to wait forever. It's disgusting... my MP gave me the Minister of Immigrations email (Chris Alexander) in Canada and told me to complain as well because it's not fair. How are peoples family members dying here and they won't put that case first? Insane.

With all due respect and at the risk of sounding unsympathetic (which I am really not - I promise), why should I (or anyone else who has applied) have to wait longer because someone else's family member is ill or they are having a baby. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I think the long wait times are fair or that Immigration as a whole in Canada doesn't need a complete overhaul.....we are simply seen as numbers on a file rather than humans with families & lives, but I don't think it would be any more fair for them to put someone who applied after another first just because they get pregnant. If they processed all of the women who are pregnant first, those of us who aren't pregnant would suffer - I have 2 kids already, not sure I am game for #3 right now, so why should I wait longer? With respect to death, while this is very difficult to be able to go through without our spouses, again, there are challenges to justifying "fair" to other applicants if they put illness & death in families ahead of other who aren't experiencing that. I am sure that there are specific cases that would warrant individual review, for example - I would be okay with someone who has had a child with their spouse who is aboard and that child is diagnosed with a terminal illness being put ahead of my application.

On the flip side, if they just moved faster and thought of all of us as real people just like them and what is must be like to have our fate in their hands, then it would be fair for everyone!

Just my opinion and don't expect anyone to necessarily agree with it.......but wanted to throw it out there!

I agree though. . Not saying your file not supposed to be process, but some of us here have kids and want to see their father and as pinky said I don't think it's completely fair. I'm in this for 15 months and still waiting.. it's hard when your 21 month old baby have to just keep video chatying with her father or I have to keep sending her to jamaica to see him... but as I said before if anyone hear anything on their file I'm happy for them. Best to be patient and wait

Yea I always stay positive and exactly, I am happy to see movements on files whatever the dates because it is just encouraging, that means they work for real. I just want this torture to be finished for everyones asap!

Meljam, its really tough to be away from your spouse. I was slowly slipping into depression and my doctor had to give me antidepressants.It wasn't easy for hubby as well. I felt like giving up and then we got the email requesting additional docs two weeks ago and it renewed our hope at a time when we needed it most. so I know how you feel especially with the holidays coming up and a lot of family functions. i just don't know how sammystorm and the other ladies on here with children cope throughout this process. you have to be really strong and resilient to get through this process. Keep strong. I belive you will be hearing from KGN soon.

I think her MP has something to do with this because 8 months...we never seen this lately.
Some ladies were pregnant or are pregnant presently and it looks like it doesnt change anything. I dont know if her MP is directly "plugged" to Kingston...but I pretty sure it is the only reason her file has been fast track like this.

It is like in every field...if you have contacts and can escalade...you jump to the top of the stack. Unfortunatly some others got penalized because of it.

I AM NOT SURPRISED to hear this. In Jamaica, to get things done on time, you have to pay off someone. Its sad. One of the things that I have heard is that the immigration officers are prejudiced towards canadian women who sponsor spouses from other countries. generally speaking, if a Canadian man sponsors , the process goes through faster than if a woman was the sponsor. Don't know how true it is, but i had a coworker that sponsored his wife and she came here in five months. another friend of mind sponsored his wife and and it was finalized 10 mths. maybe these are isolated cases but the system is just not fair either way.

You can always talk to your doctor/ counselor about it, but be prepared that they will want to give you antidepressants and you can become too dependent on these drugs to get through each day.

Pay it online with a credit card and email the receipt to Mississauga. There is an email address on the payment page on where to send it. You can also send to Kingston but its Mississauga that updates the payments

Well I didn't expect to have my case opened before everyone elses, that wasn't my plan at all. I originally thought I would have the baby here and they would grant my husband a visitors visa for the birth then I would go to Jamaica for my maternity leave. After 2 denied visas I was extremely infuriated, especially since they were denying my husband to come see our child be born. That is the only reason why I contacted 2 MPs to look into the denied visa and the 1 went above and beyond because they thought it's not right and they know that there is some corruption going on in some visa offices. Reasons they denied the visa were for a couple things that they said we failed to provide but they did not request them whatsoever on the application checklist. It's not fair at all. The system is very unjust.

You got that right. They're extremely spiteful when it comes to Canadian women marrying Jamaican men. It's sad and unjust.

Well at the end of the day 2 newbies from March 2014 are In Process since Nov. 13!! Wow Kingston will always impress me! So MP, pregnancy or what ever has nothing to do with this....as we always say...it is Kingston lottery!
