I think it's ridiculous when your MP won't help. I have no idea if mine will help, but they're supposed to be willing to help! That's very unfortunate.

I can't answer your question, but I am sure that CAD13 can :)

My MP's office was rude at first too.. actually the girl on the phone didnt even have any knowledge this was one of their duties... then i contacted jay aspins office in ottawa.. and they were very apologetic and the next day i had the same lady that was rude to me on the phone apologizing and giving me my update which i asked for....... so maybe some offices dont even know.. but my suggesting is try to go the step higher to get your information...

We have received the passport along with all papers stating permanent resident status. I have made the flight changes which amounted to extra cost of $1260. That includes my fee for changing my flight I bought back in Jan 2014 and her one way ticket to Canada. I have also purchased travel insurance for 3 months in the amount of $296. My next update will be once she has landed in Canada which will be sometime next week.

Thats so exciting... thanks for all the info...

One thing to note. If you haven't lived with your spouse for more than 2 years in the same home whether that be in Canada or abroad, there appears to be new rules now. One of the requirements to complete permanent residency is now that your spouse lives with you in the same residence for a period of 2 years before the permanent residence status is permanent. If they do not live with you for the first 2 years, the residency expires.

One of the conditions states:

51: Must cohabit in a conjugal relationship with your sponsor for continuous period of 2 years after the day on which became PR.

This applies to anyone who applied after October 25th 2012 and who don't have a child together. If you have a child this doesn't apply. When you receive your visa the "condition51" will be on there. Someone else on here received this condition as well

Btw congrats on the visa
