As you are married to a jamaican national you are eligible for a work permit exemption. It costs J$14,400 and is processed the same day. Read the following link for more info:

Interesting!!!

Hi there sorry to jump in like this but, just looking for some advise maybe experience.

I'm a Canadian citizen, my husband is Jamaican citizen. He came to Canada on a work permit, we met, fell in love, got married. His work permit expired, due to our negligence we didn't apply for an extension as we were going to submit inland spousal sponsorship. We did apply in March 2013. Received AIP (first stage approval in November 2013). However, my husband was detained by CBSA in October 2013 for expired work permit. Due to the fact that we had an application in process they let him go (waiving the $2500 bond due to his good character, honesty and manners) they were overly impressed with him waived the $2500 bond and told him he would be required to report every month to the bond centre in Etobicoke. We've done so with no issues, we always comply to everything they ask us to. Last week Thursday, we received a letter from CBSA. My husband is subject to a removal order. We are SCARED out of our minds. After speaking with a lawyer they believe that CBSA may try to deport him based on the expired status and another issue that I will leave private. The odds aren't in our favour and we are planning for worst case scenario.

I may have to move to Jamaica. From what I've read, because I'm married to a Jamaican citizen I adopted the citizenship as well. So moving there and working shouldn't be an issue. However, am I being naïve? I know work is not that easy to come by. I'm 32 yrs old with a great career backing. I just want to know if this is really unrealistic, I mean I'm sure its been done before by other, right? My world is crashing around me, I'm scared for both my husband and myself. I feel like I have a thousand thoughts running through my head at the same time.
Just a question on this one for you also......I was under the understanding that if you did an inland sponsorship and you (the sponsor) had received your approval, they would not be able to send your husband back to JA as you cannot stop one application and then have to reapply for another one. We spoke to a lawyer before my hubby was sent home but there was not enough time for us to put an inland application in and me to get sponsor approval before hubbys removal order came into affect. I would look into this further because I don't think they can send him home if you already have been approved. Modify: i think something about a deferral on the removal date. or an extension to it.

We are due in October, and i am hoping that he will be there to experience everything as we aren't planning on having any more children after this one! If it doesn't work out i'm sure we will manage as everything happens when it is meant to. On that note, i feel that Mr. Chickie and Mr. DG are meant to get their calls this week!!

Come on kingston, send these hubbys home!

Very good attitude to take LCW bc the likelyhood of him being here before October may be slim, but there is always hope. Just don't get your hopes up too high so you will not be disappointed and heartbroken if he isn't here for the birth. Good Luck once again!

CHW any news on your passport?

Nope, No update on the ecas and no news on the visa being issued. Trying to be patient but it is extra hard knowing that you are so close to finishing the sponsorship process.
