Hi there sorry to jump in like this but, just looking for some advise maybe experience.
I'm a Canadian citizen, my husband is Jamaican citizen. He came to Canada on a work permit, we met, fell in love, got married. His work permit expired, due to our negligence we didn't apply for an extension as we were going to submit inland spousal sponsorship. We did apply in March 2013. Received AIP (first stage approval in November 2013). However, my husband was detained by CBSA in October 2013 for expired work permit. Due to the fact that we had an application in process they let him go (waiving the $2500 bond due to his good character, honesty and manners) they were overly impressed with him waived the $2500 bond and told him he would be required to report every month to the bond centre in Etobicoke. We've done so with no issues, we always comply to everything they ask us to. Last week Thursday, we received a letter from CBSA. My husband is subject to a removal order. We are SCARED out of our minds. After speaking with a lawyer they believe that CBSA may try to deport him based on the expired status and another issue that I will leave private. The odds aren't in our favour and we are planning for worst case scenario.
I may have to move to Jamaica. From what I've read, because I'm married to a Jamaican citizen I adopted the citizenship as well. So moving there and working shouldn't be an issue. However, am I being naïve? I know work is not that easy to come by. I'm 32 yrs old with a great career backing. I just want to know if this is really unrealistic, I mean I'm sure its been done before by other, right? My world is crashing around me, I'm scared for both my husband and myself. I feel like I have a thousand thoughts running through my head at the same time.
