hey girl!!!! Thanks for coming over and helping out in the forum.....many blessings to you. How is hubby doing in the cold? LOL
Hello Miss Chick-a-Dee, I can see you are being your usual sunny self :D.....I'm keeping an eye on you, O&O, Daddy's Girl and CoG to get those VISAS ASAP!!!!!

It has been so funny to see my hubby dealing with the cold weather, honestly it cracks me up!! He views the weather as his new challenge and it is NOT going to get the better of HIM!! On top of that he loves to direct me on how to shovel and clean the cars "properly". I give him a lot of credit though, he is out there in the dark and bitter cold of morning in his snow gear scraping and blowing etc. Not sure if it was Nev or another JA member talking about how it takes about 20 minutes to get all the layers right but that is my hubby to a T.

Then just yesterday he said to me while we were out driving.....(all casual like he has it all figured out now)...."so it seems to snow about every 2 days then?" Lol......then he finally said after about our 3rd trip to downtown Toronto (so far they have all been in snowstorms coincidentally)....."well I might need a GPS, this is a BIG country!!! I can't know all of this in 3 months, it may take about 2 years" and if you knew my hubby (he is a major bossy alpha dog who thinks he does know everything :p) you would know this was a huge turning point for him to acknowledge that he may need to adjust his expectations.

On another note - Miss Ninirae.....if you are reading this (and for all of the other ladies who responded to Nini's post about arguing with the hubs about whose country is better, I laughed my head off at that one, hubby and I used to have those convos as well :D) things will naturally fall into place when they get here. You will see a side of your husband that he will reveal over time and you will both be less stressed as the immigration process will be over.

Will there be other stresses? Of course, that is life but while enduring the immigration separation, try to be mindful as much as humanly possible to get off the phone or the Skype call when things are getting tense. Learn a "loving hang up" technique that you can both live with and are in agreement on, when one or both of you start picking at the other due to the stress of being apart. Try to commit to it even if you can feel your flesh rising up....as words are powerful and they can be damaging. Remember "a gentle tongue can break a bone".

One of the other JA thread members commented on her husband finally opening up a bit more in the communication dept. and I have witnessed the same thing with my husband in the short time we have been together here. He has finally had some time to decompress and reflect and just be able to think without some of the pressures that were always on his head back home. This is a major life upheaval for both parties and many men (and can I say especially West Indian/Caribbean men? ;)) will struggle with being in a position that is actually quite vulnerable. Hubby and I are both fairly mature and I must confess we both behaved pretty badly on a few occasions during the process and even more so in the weeks leading up to him actually leaving. So take a deep breath and remember why you love and chose each other and give each other grace and forgiveness and try to do better the next time. Speaking from my own experience only. Blessings.

when i applied in February 2012 the sponsor approval time was 55 days but there was a hold up on everyones and that time slowly climbed to 99 days so most of us got approval around june or july but my app got sent back due to missing medicals as my hubby was old school and said we didn't need to send those until they asked for them (which was true but times had changed and now we have to submit with app) so app got sent back to Mississauga in Sept 2012 and sponsor approval was Oct 2012. We got a letter in March asked for the RPRF fee which put a 2 month delay on our papers also then summer 2013 was upon us with the strike, they asked for the ARC in August (because my hubby was in Canada and had been deported) and the renewal of our meds were November. Also we have 2 children on the application which are coming up with him although I truly don't believe that made it longer. It was just a bunch of mistakes made and the strike that has made it so long but I truly believe it was meant to be this way. If we had put our medicals in the app then it would have been faster but then I wouldn't have been able to put the app in in February so it would have been later submitting anyways and most likely if I had paid the RPRF fee right away that wouldn't have put a delay on our papers either but I can't go back and change it now......:)

To be honest, chickie your very strong. I would have gave up already.... smh

Ahhh, but you know me too well C&T... knowing that there is a good chance I will be reading as I don't want to miss a thing. Reading your words of wisdom from actual experience means a lot to me and gives me even more hope. Between all the advice for the ladies on here and your advice just now, I knew that I truly have to let go until he is here for him to actually be able to understand...

Case and point... last night he asked me to send him videos and pictures of the snowfall around 2am, and I obliged (while honestly rolling my eyes and waiting for the sarcastic comments after). His response was this: "Oh my goodness baby. I never realized that Canada is truly that beautiful. I cannot wait to be there with you so that we can experience it all together."

I did not say a word regarding his comment other than: "I can't wait for you to come either." What kind of wife would I be to pull an "I told you so" and start an argument?! ::) ::) ::)

hahahaha. Between it all, I truly have more faith is the possibility of him opening his eyes in his OWN time and as long as I don't push him, he will come around.

Love you all and Blessings C&T, so glad hubby is quickly adjusting to your new life together! :-* :-* :-*

Everything will work out in the end, just hold the faith and try to think of the cup half full.....no matter what you are going thru, there are people out there worse off then yourself and you have to count the blessings that you do have and everything else will fall into place. LOL i have to chuckle about what you said about your hubby facing the fact that he doesn't know everything LOL it is a common problem for all of us I think and i chalk it down to a "Man" thing lol but it just kills them to admit when they are wrong sometimes!

As for my sunny self.....I am still here freezing away in this wacky weather that has hit us all in Canada lately.....I wish my sunny self could melt all this crap mother nature is throwing our way. I hate winter! My retirement plans are to be a snowbird let me tell you!

I truly said to my hubby back in July that I was done, i couldn't do this anymore blah blah blah but I came back to my senses and everything is back in order but no matter what, we persevere because that is our nature and we can't change this and it is no one's fault this is taking so long and we just have to wait it out. I can't give you any tested and true antidotes for making it thru except that you just do! LOL Many a days I have lost it completely but we bounce back! Soldier on! ;D ;D ;D

Another accountant??!!?? I know what you mean...I have two with January 7th deadlines...let's just say I will be at work pretty late today...haha (ps, I'm an external auditor..you probably hate me LOL!)
OMG ...... just today we were talking about that because our books go to the accountant and come back unaudited and we have a case currently going on right now where they say our books have to be audited now and I was like "oh S H I T".....
I have no deadlines too much on mine but 4 year ends ending dec 31st so I am working on those and 2 others come due Jan 31st. They just basically have to be in for tax time but I try to get them in asap and yes I hear you on the long nights!
