This morning I was driving to work and talking to my husband on the phone like we usually do for the half hour ride. You got to work we said our I love you's. And hung up the phone so I could start my day.
Not even 15 minutes later at 9:44. My my husband called back. Which is weird because he usually doesn't call me while I'm at work unless I'm on my lunch. He opened the conversation with ..
"Danielle are you busy"
I replied. "no, do you have any good news?"
All I heard was .."yes baby. They have requested my passport."

I couldn't stop sobbing. I cried out and nearly dropped to the floor.
The lady next to me couldn't figure oh what was going on. I explained. We hugged. And Cried.
My husband told me to calm down and call him back lol


So now. Still shaking.
My husband is on his way to figure out the dhl.
Not sure where to go for that.
Also. The cost is 2100$ if I remember.

I'm still in shock

Our cases are the same and only 3 days apart so we should be hearing something by Friday!

You can Google DHL and look for the locations in Jamaica -- they are all over the place; however, it seems that not all of the locations have access to the pre-paid return envelopes.

Earlier this year the cost was around $1900 JMD; recently O&O's hubby paid $2800 JMD.

Husband says that the savlamar office won't send passports. So he has to go to Montego Bay?!
Anyone heard this?

Nev I asked before Mrs Parkin and I haven't gotten a response, one a the lucky ones eh. They did say if your email is not on the form they wouldn't reply to it, I wonder if they only would reply to my lawyer, but my email was on my questionnaire.

I think that my husbands police record will be expiring soon. He got in done in Feb 2013. I am sending him to Kingston to get a new one done, and I want to verify that I have the correct info:
1. go to St Anns Tax Office and pay 1000.000 jmd
2. get 2 passport photos with one of them notarized by a JP
3. Take the passport photos, the receipt and his passport to Duke Street, Kingston
4. Go back to Duke 21 days later to pick them up
5. Drop them to the Canada Embassy.

Can someone tell me if this is correct? It seems like a lot of travelling and wasted time.

Yes, that was the location my hubby went to on Saturday.

MoBay might be his best bet.

That's correct the passport pictures don't need a signature you can pay express 5 days is 60 or 80 other than that it is correct.

Here's a little secret:

When and if you are sending an email to Kingston, send it as late as possible (around midnight) or as early as possible (4am) before their office opens. It seems that they open emails as they receive them and this may bring you some good fortune! Your email may be the first one in the list when they turn their computers on in the morning.

I finally heard back from Kingston after 3 months of nothing. Just to tell me that

Dear Ms. Carm,

The visa office will advise your spouse if another medical examination is required.

Please understand that our office cannot provide you with updates by email on a regular basis, but rest assured that we will contact you if any action is required on your part.

Hi Jam Fam!!!!

My hubby went to Kingston today at 4:30am to drop off his passport and itinerary. Although the woman he spoke to on Friday didn't tell him he needed to bring a pre-paid return envelope we wanted to make sure we dotted all of our i's and crossed all of our t's. Hubby went to DHL in SAV on Saturday only to find out that that location does not have those envelopes. He was going to go to MoBay but we decided against it and hoped/prayed that KG would tell him to come pick up his passport.

Hubby arrived in KG early and went to the High Commission and spoke to the guard. The guard was very rude and Mr. Nev said he looked right through him. The guard told him there was absolutely no drop offs on Mondays and to come back tomorrow. Mr. Nev stood his ground and said he was told to drop off his documents today. After a lengthy discussion the guard told him to come back at 1:30pm. When hubby called I could hear the discouragement in his voice. I calmly told him not to waste another second thinking about how the guard treated him. He had four hours to kill so I told him to get something to eat and to find out where the nearest DHL location was incase an envelope was requested. We talked a couple of more times and I could tell hubby was starting to feel better.

From 1:30pm to 2pm I was on pins and needles because we had no idea if he was just supposed to drop off his documents or if he had to go into the High Commission. When my phone rang and I picked it up I could feel hubby's smile across the miles.

When he went back there was a different guard and when my hubby told him what happened earlier, the guard apologized and said the guy was new and there was a mix up. He told my hubby to go inside and drop off his passport and itinerary. Mr. Nev was pretty impressed with the High Commission. He said they scanned him, took his phone, and iPod. He said a very nice white lady helped him. She had short dark hair and a nice face with some years on it! lol! He handed her his passport and itinerary and asked if there was anything else she needed. I told him to take EVERYTHING with him incase he was asked for it - original marriage certificate, original birth certificate, Schedule A, address change, etc. She told him that was all that she needed except his DHL envelope. Hubby told her he was not asked to bring an envelope and then she told him the visa officer would call him when it is time to pick up his passport/visa.

Mr. Nev is currently floating home on cloud 9!!!

So that's where things are at as of today!
