Here is my landing story....
First off, I live out in Saskatchewan so my husband had to take a connecting flight with a 6 hour layover in TO...
His parents and siblings drove him to the airport and there was many tears shed there. He called me from inside the airport (past security) and I loved hearing his excitement about the shops and looking for his gate. When he got on the plane he also called me. I asked him what he thinks of the plane, and he said "it's like a bus on the inside". lol.
I tracked both flights in excitement. I was nervous and excited, but it still somehow didn't seem real yet... His first flight landing in TO was scheduled to land at 15:35. Shortly before landing time, I had a series of small heart attacks as the flight tracker first told me his flight was delayed by 2 hours then it switched to landed then back to delayed by 25 mins.... finally he landed at 16:04... Hubs has one of his brethren meet up with him at the airport and was able to call me and let me know he landed safe and with no problems. The officers asked him no questions and welcomed him to Canada with smiles.
Next his flight was late taking off which was bringing him to me... delayed by 2 hours! I thought he was never gonna get here... and yet all this time it didn't feel real that he was actually coming home to me...
While at the airport, I started crying when I saw his plane land. Me and the kids were waiting and as soon as we saw him come out the "pearly gates" he had big smiles and so did we. He ran up to us and whispered in my ear "Baby Im home!" I melted.... It's real!
Lots of people around us figured out what was going on and you could see their smiles and hear their "awes". While waiting for his luggage, my husband asked me,"Babes, am I really the only black man here??" It was cute and funny. Yes we have plenty of black people and every race here but at 2:30 am in a small airport never a guarantee lol...
Next we took him outside to the snow... "OMG, Im tellin you, its COWLLLLL!!" is all I can hear my husband say lol... luckily the 80 km/hr winds that we were having that morning had completely died and it was about -10 out. much better than the -47 we were having mid week before lol.
On Sunday morning, waking up next to my husband was surreal... the best part of my day was hearing our son call out "daddy" every minute. Everyting is daddy this and daddy that,,, it is like he has already been here always. Our son never give him no funny look, nothing. Just call to him same way that he would have always.
My husband loves the snow! On Sunday, we were all out in the back yard and our kids were teaching him to make snow angels! Then they made a snowman yesterday. He loves it, the cold hasn't bothered him none at all.
We have been busy the last 2 days, we already set up his bank account, get his SIN#, his health card, his drivers license exam, a visa, added his name to the lease and utilities, etc. We went grocery shopping and found a bunch of Grace products so he has things he used to.
We even go to the police station and he met my father in uniform and everything lol... he was not shy to do so either lol! Everybody love him and he is having a good time!
I feel so blessed. Our family is complete and we are now learning our roles here. We all fit in good. Hubby even cook last night for us all and let me tell you, even tho I am trying to learn to cook JA food, it was so good to eat the real thing lol!!!
Good luck to you all, I can't wait to read your landing stories too!
