Anada honey (lol almost typed Horney) :-[ :-[

don't even fret yourself bout how your wedding was.... it don’t matter how and where your wedding was as long as it was special to you.
I got married at a church and had the reception scheduled there two .... halfway through the reception we packed up and left because the people there pissed us off. Went home to Portmore talked to the neighbours set up the sound box on the roof, mother in law lay down some home cooking and we partied the night away on the flat top roof ….. let me tell you not what envisioned at all for my wedding but was the best feeling ever …. Nothing like dancing your first dance in your wedding dress and flip flop shoes on my in laws roof. Lol ghetto from birth I guess but it was heavenly to me.

Hubby said the same about redos....but i can think of better things to put our $ in to like on ourselves lol lol

well hubs family werent that thoughtful....i mean nice ppl....but they realyl didnt do *censored word* but get themselves ready to go.........

theyre younge and kinda just in to their own selves and lives etc....and probably assumed before the really go tot know me...that the foreigner would pay for it alll.....but even at that...no one offered to look after cake etc, natta.....kinda held a grudge for a bit over it, but couldnt really cause my family werent much more supportive lol

Aww that's so unfortunate Anada. I understand your dissapointment as any one would be!! It's not like because you're from foreign that you have a bank account that just produces $ on command!!

Here's how we made our wedding work within our means. While we were planning, we discussed what I would take of and what he would do from his end. We agreed that I would rent the tuxedos for the men which I totally bargained at Moore's .....you ready for this? 5 full premium outfits for under $250!!!! AND with the shoes!! Reason I got that deal was because I bought the bridesmaid dresses at David's online for $35 each on sale (regular prices $250) with shipping from the states, it came to $50 which I'll post here. I said to Moores, the sign outside says if the dresses were bought at David's, that the men's outfit would be 50% off with the groom's for free! At that point, they couldn't go against their ad but I guess their goal is to give that deal with the intention of folks spending alot more at David's (but it doesn't say anything about not being to buy at David's online in the clearance section)! Hehehe.

Hmm what else, I bought the table covers and chair ties online for $60 bucks and as a gift my coworker hand made gorgeous pew bows for the church which saved us a couple of hundred bucks.

On hubbies side he took care of cost of food, and pretty much the whole days events. Who needs a wedding planner. My hubbie turned into one overnight for ours (they do say Jamaican men have quite the talent in mulitple trades). Instant mechanic, instant electrician, instant chef, instant carpenter!

All the flowers were hand picked by his aunt and mommy. They all went to the church the night before to decorate. His brother got up early morn to decorate the church entrance with beautiful palms and hibiscus flowers. His uncle is a professional chef so he came and took care of dinner for the reception. We had a pre-reception for friends and neighbors who weren't part of the evening reception as it was such a public wedding we wanted to ensure all from his town could stop by and have a drink.

Hubbies friends contributed to most of the alcohol. Surprise surprise!

Ok here was a true gift. I hired a professional photographer (who is one of the islands most sought out photographer in weddings) who didn't charge by the hour. She and her team of photographer drove 5 hours from KG to Negril. She costed $2000 for the day and when I spoke to her the first time, I said I'd insult her if I told her what we could afford. She accepted the mere $400 I offered and said not everything is about money. But wait........here's the juicy part. After the reception, I paid her. 10 minutes later she came up to me, took my hand and handed the money back in my hands. While in tears, she said she was overwhelmed by the love she witnessed throughout the day and couldn't accept our payment. She said she hasn't experienced a wedding where she saw a small town come together so closely to celebrate the way we did. The love, the joy, the unity of family really touched her in a way she said she'd never forget.

I mean the Big Man above really took care of us that day. I guess the most costly ticket item that day was the surprise hubbie gave me - the horse & carriage. All hubbie said was that it took alot of savings to get that horse transported all the way from Little London (and without me knowing). Oh and the man who dressed up in his neat cowboy hat and bow tie who drove the buggie like a professional limo driver!

Sorry for writing a book but this is keeping me sane from stalking DHL!! :o

Plus it's Friday, need something to read before going into the weekend. :D
