Hi forum hope everyone had a nice long weekend - weather was quite nice here in GTA

We went Niagara falls saw fireworks took pictures etc. hubby & kids loved it! ANYWAY seen some updates so......

CIJ congrats on pp request (told you b4) but read your concerns about hubby getting cold feet yes it must be a culture shock, especially for those not travelled before (my hubby had travelled although not to Canada). but even he said sorry for those who have to adapt it will be hard at first especially in winter even I cant get used to the ICE cold weather and when they arrive trying to get jobs is not easy either but visits back every few months or so should help them settle. 8)

CHARLIED Your right with some updates not being posted/updated as some were not on the KGN thread so should update their own lol...going back to your "Island Boy/men" talk from SQ I like your comment "some dont mind 2/3 kids and glad for others to pick up theirs"...but I always take my hat off for men who take up other men's children and do BETTER jobs (but I guess its a package if they want the lady then its inevitable to take the child/ren too). my hubby has taken me with 2 but want 1 for ourself STILL WORKING ON THAT LOL.
Back to the violence in the l8 70/80s I can relate to that as mum left JA with us because of that or we would have still been there...Its a beautiful place just needs tweaking with the corruption that arises but I always look forward to going back.

SQ the Island men have style, can cook, good sense of humour (feel thats important) Look after you.. & ofcourse the BAMBAM could go on and on but there are some stereotypes that spoil it for others drugs, guns, or use you for help but there is good and bad everywhere!

Hey chukie!! Glad to hear hubby having a nice time, Niagara is down on my must-see list. LOL, as for my comments, I call 'em like I see 'em. Good luck on the practice, haha, lots of ladies on here have had good luck on that not too long after hubby arrived!

Here watching Idol because my husband watches it too, and it really isn't my type of show, but it's something to share with him, so I am watching. At least the contestants are singing country music, I can tolerate that, it's what I listen to, haha. The things we do for love.

Thanks for the welcome Chuckie..congrats on your husband being here. I look forward to my reunion with my husband in the near future.

Also, It's not that bad since I do travel to JA with the kids every 3 months to see him. We also are planning to have another child of our own, so far we have had two MC. But with him being here will proberly take alot of the stress off from working my tail off to manage to travel so much, not to mention the children missing him.

So may I ask how you all met your husbands? ;D

My husband and I met in a chat room in March 2009. Totally random meeting, I had been there for a couple years and I was one of the admins for the chat. His friend in England suggested it as a cool place to chat, he came in, introduced himself, the rest is history.

We live in Kingston but I am from a little place near Negril. Hubby lives in northern ON, he comes to visit when he can. Trust me, you want to work if you can, it helps the time pass quicker, and saving up is a big part of the preparation for your husband coming home. Mine was going through a list with me the other day, about clothes I will need and so on, and it's a long list.

Besides, June is wedding season, you'll want to get in on the action and build your business during that time! I'm an accountant, I am actually qualified to give advice like that .

known hubby from UK nearly 4 yrs ago, married nearly 2yrs now, he's not just my hubby we're good friends too been there through thick and thin. How bout you?

CHARLIED watched Idol too think Lauren will win...like the finals of dancing with the stars, looking 4wd to see x-factor (UK version of Idol) starts in fall love Simon Cowell he kills me! Hubby likes Idol and X-factor otherwise watches Discovery or action movies

Chukie, I really don't care who wins, LOL. I promised hubby to watch it with him, that is all. They both had good voices though, and several runners up have gone on to good careers, so I am not worried about either of them, win or "lose". I don't really watch the comments of the judges, I think most of them are fake anyways . Simon Cowell is too mean for my taste, LOL. He reminds me of Gordon Ramsay when he's in Hell's Kitchen. Can't stand him then, but I love watching Kitchen Nightmares.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site just trying to figure out a few things with my spousal sponsorship. I am from Canada and my husband is from Jamaica. I was apporoved to sponsor my husband June 2010. Ja received our pkg. July 2010. Now online it's saying that we are processing "husband's name" may 2011. Where does this mean I stand are we throught the 6 month processing time for their office and they just need to finalize things? or Does this mean the 6 month process is just starting? Any insight would be appreciated, thank you

Hi and welcome, kuma!

Your husband's application is in the final stages, actually, when it goes to "In Process". The VO is now gathering all te various points on the file to make a decision, so you are not at the beginning of the 6 months period, you are actually nearing the end. With KG of course, that 6 months is an optimistic estimate. Based on our timelines, they are actually taking an average 8-10 months to finalize spousal cases, so you are in the correct timeframe.

If you like, I can add you to our updates listing, and you can wait out the final stages with persons in the same boat. We have people here who have already been through the process who still offer advice and encouragement, persons in the final stages like your husband, and some who have just started out, like me. Please do stick and stay!

Kuma - this is a very friendly forum, trust me. I came here totally not knowing anything about the process, and we were guided to make a very organized application, which we submitted in Feb of this year.

Needmyhusband, you can use the eCAS link on CIC's website to check the status of an application. As your application has just been submitted to KG, don't look for anything to happen with it right now. Here is a link to eCAS: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/security.do?app=ecas

As for visiting with your husband, that is really up to your circumstances. Remember that if you are a PR yourself, you cannot be outside of Canada for extended periods while sponsoring your family. If you are a citizen, you have the option to visit, but again, that is up to your individual circumstances, only you can decide if you can afford to take a month off work etc.
