See, they love to keep everything a huge secret, I dont know why. Like why cant they just send you a quick email saying they received it?
I think its because they dont want to answer as to what it is they are actually doing there. Are they working or just sitting around doing nothing. Seems that way to me.
Hi Everyone
I don't come around often as my husband landed almost 2 years ago. I was reading a bit today and saw this post.....I sort of feel like the crusher of dreams right now, but if you think that they are going to take the time to look up and answer each inquiry they get, you are crazy. If you consider just how many files they have submitted each year and then figure out how long it would take if each person submitted just 1 case inquiry that they had to look up, how much time do you think they would waste? Wouldn't you rather they spend that time processing the files ahead of you so that your spouse can come home sooner? During the 10 months that my file was in Kingston, I sent along updates - including photos/details from mine & hubby's 2nd wedding - my updated address and name when I changed my passport - they never once responded or acknowledged they got the updates, but through the GCMS notes, I was able to verify that they had in fact received all of the info that I sent. I would strongly suggest that after your file has been in Kingston for 6+ months, you order your notes, rather than bother the VO that don't have time to answer your questions.
And, while I am at it......do we really want them to just go & hire more people - I pay taxes in Canada and I don't know about you, but I think that the government gets enough of my paycheque every 2 weeks. If they hire more people, that money has to come from somewhere! Do I think they can process things in a more efficient manner (according to my notes, it took them 20mins start to finish to approve hubby's VISA, the rest was just shelf time)....yes, do I think that it takes way to long to reunite families....yes, do I know exactly how you are all feeling right now.....yes, but do I believe that hiring new people is going to fix the problem.....no! The problem runs much deeper than not enough staff at the Visa offices!
The unfortunate reality is that we all signed up for this immigration deal knowing full well that the posted wait times are 2+ years right now. If you want the process to be less stressful - allow them to do their jobs, don't have unrealistic expectations (just because 1 or 2 people got through in 7 months, doesn't mean that will be the case moving forward - because if it were, they would change the posted wait times) and find a hobby!
Trust me when I say that when your spouse lands, the amount of time you waited will be totally irrelevant and to be honest - you will quickly forget just how long it felt! Trust in your relationship, have faith in god and let immigration do their job.
Sorry to sound like such a b#tch, I really do sympathize with each & every one of you. I appreciated the people on this forum that challenged me to look at the process differently when I was in the middle of it. There is no question, this was one of the single most difficult things I have ever experienced, but it has all been worth it!
