Hi everyone,

Could you tell me how soon can I leave the country after landing?

If I land on a Friday can I leave on the Sunday or Monday and have my Husband send me my PR card through Fedex Or DHL when it arrives?

I have heard several persons speak on this but never really took the time to go through the thread ::)...

Thanks in Advance Guys.

Roxie
this may be helpful copy and pasted :::CPC Sydney has a procedure where it can expedite these requests and promises to “examine your request and contact you within two business days to inform you whether it is possible to speed up the process”. It insists that a copy of a purchased airline ticket be submitted with the request. Travel itineraries are not sufficient and there is no assurance that the application will be processed urgently, or how long it might take. It simply depends on the circumstances.

Sometimes, this option is just not fast or certain enough.

It is possible for some permanent residents to travel without a PR card and return to Canada, however, not without some risks.

First, here are some basic truths.

Firstly, it is not a legal requirement for a permanent resident to maintain a valid PR card anymore than it is for a Canadian citizen to maintain a valid Canadian passport.

Both documents are evidence of a person’s status in Canada but their absence does not compromise, at all, that status. For example, if my dog Mia, ate my valid Canadian passport, I would still be a Canadian citizen even if I couldn’t produce my passport. Same thing with permanent residents. They are still permanent residents even if they are not in possession of a PR card. No doubt, a PR card is the best evidence of that status.

Secondly, Canadian citizens and permanent residents can leave Canada anytime with or without a passport or PR Card. No law prohibits it. Any problems are associated with returning to Canada.

Thirdly, a permanent resident is required to have a PR card when he/she returns to Canada. However, his/her failure to do so will not constitute an offence under our immigration laws.

Fourthly, if a Canadian permanent resident finds themselves outside of Canada without a PR card they can always apply for a permanent resident travel document at a Canadian visa post outside of Canada.

If for some reason they can’t get one, they may nonetheless be able to return to Canada. No doubt, problems may arise when taking this approach, but it is certainly possible.

Transportation companies are required to ensure that a person travelling to Canada has the appropriate documentation for that entry. If they don’t, the carrier will deny them boarding since our Federal government can hold them responsible for transporting someone who may be denied entry to Canada.

For permanent residents who are from countries whose citizens require a visitor’s visa to come to Canada, (i.e. China, India, Pakistan) they shouldn’t even consider travelling without a PR card unless they are willing to apply abroad for a permanent resident travel document since they will surely be denied boarding on their return trip unless they have proper documentation.

On the other hand, those permanent residents who are from visa-exempt countries (i.e. US, UK, Mexico) might be able to return without a PR card with minimal difficulty.

Although airline representatives are supposed to insist on a PR card if a traveller claims to be a permanent resident of Canada, they seldom ask when they are presented with a passport from a visa-exempt country.

Upon arrival in Canada, the permanent resident travelling without a PR card has the burden of proving his PR status in Canada and will have to do so without the “best” evidence of this status. However, he/she will almost always have other evidence of this status in some form or another. CBSA officials will examine him/her upon arrival here and will undoubtedly check their computer system to confirm the claimed status. They will probably chide the traveller for travelling without their PR card, but no laws will have been broken by the traveller.

Admittedly, this not an ideal situation, but neither is the deeply personal decision occasionally faced by permanent residents with family abroad whose status document expires every five years

I was just reading one of the links and it says you need to include details with each photo. I didn't do that at all :(
(who it was with/ where we were/ what we were doing/ date/ time)

This process is killing me!!!

Sorry...I know we all have to wait :(
Just sad.

I'm still showing "application received" as well.

And the new police clearance was received registered last monday (Sept 14) - no other words.
hun don't worry about what ECas says it's very likely it will just show application received for quite sometime. My ECas still says in process and my husband had received PPR about a month now and has his passport since last week returned with his documents to leave so don't stress what ECas says .. In fact mine also said received and it wasn't changed until aprox 2 months before we received his passport request . ECas is so outdated and it's better for you to order your CAIPS notes for $5 then you will get a better understanding of where your case is in terms of processing .. As with the pictures don't stress that either because I only wrote on the back of a few of them and then stopped and I had so many pictures without a description so
Don't worry I'm sure you will be fine ... Your over stressing it now and we all do that at one point or another during the process ... My whole process I felt what if what if what if .. I nearly drove myself crazy checking ECas 3 times a day.. You will be fine ... I know it's a difficult process but just have faith , God bless

booked my trip today nov 2 gonna spend a month with hubby but so stressed one month no work but still bills immigration really needs to get their butts moving they are making people suffer financially this is 8 trips in under two years i am getting so fustrated these days lord help me
I know that feeling , bills pay right before you leave and then are due again almost as soon as you come home .. It's difficult but thank god you have already begun the process and you should be hearing something soon ... I heard Sept-Dec they issue the most PPR so hopefully while your down there you and your husband get some good news .. It is extremely difficult financially travelling back and forth and while I've managed to get by these last few years I haven't been able to save anything ...you would think being married to a Canadian citizen you would get processed much faster than working or visiting visas ..

soon shorty ... Anytime now your gonna hear something .. Have you received your CAIPS notes yet ? I ordered mine and never got them but my husband has his passport back now so the notes wouldnt make a difference for me at this point .Maybe when you get them you will have a better understanding of where they are in your processing , my ECas still just says application received , we started processing your application Feb 20/15 and Medicals received so don't rely on your ECas is so behind. I don't know if they out source the work to another company to update the ECas status but either way its behind ..Are you still in Ja ? my husband wants me to go down for a week the first week of October so I can travel back with him but I'd rather just take time off work when he comes... Also if your able to please update my stats for me to show PPR Aug 28/15 and Passport returned to us Sept 18/15 it would be greatly appreciated . I might be a couple days off with the PPR date but I don't have a copy of the form here I thought it would have been emailed to me but it wasn't .. Thanks and God Bless

Sure no problem, i will update as soon as I get on the laptop (cant do it from cell) No caips notes yet :(
I will email them if I dont receive em by 28th.
Yes im still in Jamaica. My sisters husband will finally have his funeral on Oct 3, so i will be going home sometime after that. I cant believe they take so long for funerals here. And every week that Ive been here we have had another family death. Just yesterday another one.
I know eCas isnt updated properly. It doesnt surprise me at all that they dont do it properly, seems they are slow at everything down here.

Regarding medical certificates:

There are varying opinions on whether you do this upfront or not. Understand both sides. but doesn't the doctor, send this directly to KVO? Anyone use Dr Douglas??? Right now we are waiting on the police certificate and then he will mail to me - We are scheduled to get submit the application Oct 22, and paying all fees, including the landing fee, and we were planning on doing the medical before the end of November

Yes...we used her and we completed the medical almost 1 year ago and she gave us a form to send in with a file # on it for them. Kingston just extended it, so like everyone says: send everything up front....hopefully it makes a difference. (our police check also expired, had to do another one just recently as well)

The doctor was good. We were there about 2 hours in total. Theres parking immediately next door.

Good luck!

used her as well, was pretty efficient, appointment was about 2 hours as well, first part done at her office then had to another office with the requisition for radiology, its not far. They give you the receipt to attach with your application, there are extra costs you will need to pay for the dr visit and the tests they have to run but they will tell you when you book the appointment. they take cash and cards
