Ninirae, can I ask you a question? When they asked for a recent police clearance , how long did they give you to hand it in? I'm wondering if they put your file on the shelf till those days are up , or if they ask for your passport when they get the police clearance handed in. Thanks in advance !!!

Well, here's the scoop on my updated police clearance.... They never asked me for it. Because I know someone that has family that works there they gave me the heads up that if your police clearance is expired, SEND IT IN even if it's before they requested. If they come across your file and they're missing anything, then it goes into another persons pole to request it from you and that could take additional months. Hubby sent a letter with his expired PC to let them know it was just to update his file and such and such. So because of this, we weren't missing anything except the medical and they ended up extended it and we got PPR about 6 weeks after they sent in the request to extend his medical.

I still think it's luck of the draw but I listened to the advice given to me and sent in everything before they even asked , except for his medical.

Oh, thank you ! I was wondering looking at your time line. Because they just asked for our landing fee, I was thinking , ok , maybe police clearance next. Will they give us 30-60-90 days for that and put the file away again till that deadline. Stressed n over thinking tonight Lol. Thanks for responding

When you sent in the Police Check did you send it to KGN through snail mail or a courier?

When the PPR does come about- do you just take it to a courier like DHL and send it to KGN with a return envelope? Can you pick up the Passport when the Visa is affixed in KGN? or does that come via the courier? Im just thinking that it could get lost in the mail in Jamaica.....

We sent it in through courier to ensure it was received.

Also by courier as it stated in our PPR. From my understanding, you cannot go to High Commision to drop off or pick up your passport without an appointment from your VO. so we sent it via courier with a prepaid return envelope. They asked my hubby if he wanted it delivered to his house because he has an address and he said no. He would rather pick it up from the depot for the exact reason of worrying about it being lost or stolen.

PC expire after 12 months right? I just realized that on the spreadsheet, everyones who did redo the PC before requesting got PPR first....Well it looks like this. So my husband did it in October 2013, so I think I will tell him to redo it in October. What you think Nini?

It's hit and miss on this. Some redo the police check and wait for PPR other wait for the PC request, do it and then get ppr....and others get the PC request at time of PPR request.

We redid the PC in March and we are still hanging onto it. I am thinking that I will get my hubby to send it in. I did email Kingston and asked if they wanted us to send it in or hang onto it. Of course I didn't get an email back

Yeh I think you should send it in !! I think what Nini said it does make sens !! I just advised hubby about it !!

I just called him and he was just leaving the house to go down the hill to Kingston. Caught him in time. He is going to go to DHL and send it in today!!

Also if you go to DHL they know the address of the High Commission....or they have access to it

Have him do it when it expires and send it in to them. As Sammy has said on here previously, the new PC expire after 9 months.
