I will be going down to Jamaica early next year to marry my fiance and will be starting the application process immediately after that, so I still have a long journey ahead of me but I know it will be well worth it

Ok so the guy we normally rent a car from isn't renting cars anymore and I need a car rental in Kingston for 9 days. I'm looking for something where i don't need to get a bank load to add a deposit on for the week... LOL

Anyone know of companies where a huge deposit isn't required?

I have found that renting through a car rental agency is easier. I found some great deals on Kayak.com. $35 and $36/day through Car Del Mar or Holiday Autos. You can opt not to take the insurance coverage to keep your costs to a minimum.

I'm new to this forum. I've been reading looking for some answers to a couple questions. If the embassy requests you to do a new police check and requests your passport does that mean everything is approved? And if it is, how long does it usually take to get your passport back from the embassy? This has been a long journey and I can relate so much to all of you, with the being tired of the back and forth trips, the expense, the increase in frivolous arguments the longer you're apart and the terrible goodbyes at the airport. The whole process really is crazy making!

Welcome JDubsGirl the request does mean that u r close to the end of the journey. As for timeline as to when the embassy hands it back is totally dependent on who has ur file there is no set timeline. As for ur hubby leaving Jamaica I think I heard the visa has an expiry date that is usually in line with when his police record expires. So if its a new one is handing in that would mean he has a year to leave Jamaica.
Another member can correct me if I am wrong......

Hubby and I met online in 2011. Met in person a year later. Married a year after that.
Filed sponsorship April 30/13
Sponsor approved and file transferred to Kingston May 27/13
Started processing on March 11/14
New police check and request for passports on April 12/14
Embassy received pc and pp on April 15/14

I just hope and pray that things comes through soon. This distance is terrible!
