Um not to rain on any ones parade but when you go for your medical and there are traces of marijuana in your system it will make a difference on your application...I have a friend on the workers program who tested positive for marijuana and got denied this season...It may be a harmless drug but it is still drug use and they may look at it as a negative..just putting it out there...maybe not smoke it for a while before your medical...thats all
I don't know of anyone who smokes it that has had a problem. The medical is to make sure you don't have any Heath issues or any contagious diseases. Maybe for the farm workers program it is different but for family class it isn't tested for. Believe me I know of a few people that got through and they are very heavy weed smokers

My husband also verified with Dr Gomes that's its not tested for. He was told by the doctor it wasn't.

Hello wifey...I know its a long drawn out process and there wil be some ups and downs...just keep positive and if you get a little frustrated pop in and vent..there are allot of wonderful people on this forum and we all try to throw out the positive vibez..I know its easy to say this but its true...if it weren't for the wonderful people here in the kingston thread I would have a bigger twitch then I already do...lol Hang in there!!!
Hey guys!! Man it's been a long week so im just trying to remember that in 3 weeks I will be in Jamaica with the husband! We have tried two times for a TRV and been denied every time because, as the other members have said, the risk of him not returning to Jamaica. It has a been a journey but Im trying to send out positive vibes and "appreciate" our case workers and wish them health and happiness to bring our loved ones home.

Maybe work program is different but in all reality...they dont tell you either if they test for it...this friend of mine before he went for his medical he has always smoked..but this time was different..would you want to risk it though...it only takes 48 hours to get out of your system..so wouldn't you want to be safe than sorry? I mean it does have links to some criminality it is still illegal in my parts anyway..I'm not tying to be a prude or anything...just looking out for all the ganja smokers out there!!! ;D

Good Morning to all that are still survivng through the long immigration process. I have been watching my online account closely as everyone else has. Sponsor-Decision Made, PR-Application Received. My file was sent to Kingston in May and the PR status has not updated to show they have the file. I did email them in June and they stated that they did have the file. Do they normally updated it on the system as well? Also, I am going to be ordering the notes in October, is there anything is specific I need to know about this process? It seems odd how some of the apps take 19+mths and others 4-12mths. Are we not all doing the same friggen application???? Ive just started this process and their already making me wanna pull my hair out. Any suggestions are WELCOMED ;D

Okay this might seem like a stupid question to you guys but what are you talking about notes what notes are you guys talking about?? I have never heard of this before.

I guess the Dr just tells ya what you want to hear. Lol

All the people I know who got through that smoke had no problems though and didn't stop before their Medicals. I asked them to make sure before I sent my hubby as he is a Rasta. He stopped though so we will be good even they do test for it. Thank god!!!!!

You can hire a lawyer but why do that when you have all of us here to help you. Save the money and we can answer any questions for you. You will only be called for an interview if they think that the relationship isn't genuine or if they had more questions for your spouse.

I have been grilled a few times before at the airport. They way I see it, if you have nothing to hide then just let them do what they need to do. It's happened when I've come back from the Dominican Republic, Barbados and Jamaica. Hell I was even pulled aside when I came back from a work trip down to the Caribbean. Being a travel agent I hear about people being pulled aside all the time.

Yes send all of that as proof of relationship. Get pics printed at Walmart or something and then photocopy all the other proof

My wife in canada got approved, but I now I've checked online, and it's saying my Permanent Residence application has been received on May 29,2013. How soon after would they normally contact me, and what will they inform me saying

I did hire a lawyer, not because it will be processed faster, but because I didn't want to risk making any mistakes and have my application prolonged. I do recommend reading through the posts and asking the members if you have any questions through as hiring a lawyer can become quite expensive.

Tartar...congrats on your wife getting sponsorship approval. Now the real waiting begins. If you look at the cic website www.cic.gc.ca you will see the process and the processing timelines. currently the government has posted that the average processing time for applications once they have been received in kingston is 19 months... if you refer to our own forum spreadsheet located under chickie72's posts you will see that some people wait 5 months and others 24... Some people have their electronic status updated to "in process" and some dont. Some are required to attend interviews and prove the legitimacy of their relationships, others dont. Unfortunately this process leaves us largely in the dark... but youre not alone, we are all on the same journey.

Kingston doesnt seem to send out any confirmation that they have received your application or that they are working on it... until they need further information or require your passport which is likely to be many months from now for you (and me)...
