Hey a little of topic I'm looking to rent a car down in jamaica I came across hummingbird car rentals. For 11 days it comes out to be 430.00 which is right on budget. I was wondering has anyone heard about this company is it any good? Most car rentals from the airport is a ripe off holding 2000 on a credit card like really I am not walking with that credit card of mine.

Hello there! I am here! I just came on here today to check out the forum. It is just so busy with work and also working evenings has me tired. Putting in hours from 8:30am till 8pm at least 3 a few times a week. Plus been doing volunteer work in support of my son's hockey team. I am starting to feel burnt out. I need a rest and it is coming soon. I have bee doing this for a couple months now. I finally get a break after this week and won't have to work days and evenings for a while. But here I am! And so far no news on the interview date. But hopefully will get the notes soon so we can see what is being done. You will probably be hearing from Maddants soon. I am glad that some on this forum the process is over and for everyone who is nearing the end. That is good news to hear. Take care!

Budget does not hold funds as long as you have the accident and collision waiver insurance on your credit card. Most Gold and Platinums have this coverage. They never hold funds when I rent from them. Avis has the same policy.

Glad you guys are okay! I know those long work days..I average 44-50 hours per week plus full time school. We all do what we have to do.

Medical Extensions are granted at the visa officers discretion (ok we all knew that!) Apparently, it is not an elaborate or exhausitive process...it is a simple email that requires the applicant's name and all that good stuff and here is the kicker...this only takes ten working days. See the excerpt below:

• The medical case will be reviewed by HMB and a decision regarding medical validity
extension or the requirement for a new medical examination will be provided to the requesting
officer within ten (10) working days. If a medical validity extension is granted, it will generally
be for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of the request for extension.

That is weird...I rent all the time and the last time was in January. Avis nor Budget have ever held funds on my card. Once they call Visa or Mastercard they confirm that my card has the collision coverage and that is it. They charge the rental to my card and nothing else.

Call you credit card company and ask about the benefits that they offer pertaining to car rentals.
