Hi everyone! I wanted to start this thread because there doesn't seem to be a lot of recent help for Jamaican Skilled Worker applicants. I am hoping we can gather here and share info on each other's progress. Currently, I am waiting to sit IELTS on December 1 (2018) since all other dates are full/closed for 2018.

That way I can submit everything as requested within hours of request. How is it going for you guys? Have you researched where you want to settle etc?

Hi Trina, Thanks for being the bright spark and starting a thread. I was looking to find other Jamaicans applying for PR on this site, but couldn't find a one. That's insane (IELTS) because I check the other day and it was October. Jah Know. Right now, I'm trying to save up the money for the minimum amount. I think I'll wait a little to sign up for the test though. Probably when I'm 2/3 there.

Hopefully, we can find other peeps to join in

BEST,
Okra

Hey Okra, love your name, lol.

I was surprised at the test too. I went to UWI and they told me Kingston and Mobay were all maxed til December. The added a Mandeville centre and that was maxed out too. The next day I checked online and the December 1st date freed up. Within a few hours, a friend of mine went to sign up and that date was full too. So since the dates are so far away and the test is good for 2 years, I think the earlier the better. Also, what field are you in? If you can land a permanent job offer in Canada, the funds won't be required.

Tonks mi dear!

I've been researching a bit and people have daidits next to impossible to get a permanent job offer while overseas. Unless you work for a company with Canadian offices.

I'll keep searching though, because who knows? I work in Advertising

Hi guys,

I'm glad to see more Jamaicans in the mix.

Quick advice for those waiting to do the IELTS: You can never study enough, if you can get your hands on some pass exam questions and practices (Time yourself) then you'll be at an advantage.

Just a little about me:
  • Submitted EE profile in August 2018 and got my ITA on the 8th
  • Submitted my PR application in September
  • Biometrics in October
  • Waiting patiently since
Fingers crossed.

Good luck everyone!
