KINDLY ADVISE ON THE MODE OF CORRESPONDENCE

Hello All,
Can any one please advise me on when to expect the response from the CIC after submitting the PR application initially.I have submitted my application on the 31-06-2008.
Also please advise on the correspondence mode from CIC london, Will it be via email or by the courier?
