Just received my Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) – What’s Next?

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to share that I just received my Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) through the Express Entry program (Federal Skilled Worker category - FSW)!

I have a few questions about the next steps:

1. Do I need to travel to Canada to meet with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to officially obtain my permanent resident card? From what I understand, this is part of the landing process, but I want to make sure I have everything clear.
2. Can I obtain my PR card while still in my country of origin, or do I need to be physically present in Canada? It seems like I have to be in Canada, but any guidance would be helpful!
3. I noticed that my COPR says "Not valid for travel" – is that normal?

Any advice from those who’ve gone through this process would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
