My husband and I just got his PPR!! I cannot believe this has actually finally happened, and I feel like I am dreaming. I am so grateful to all of you for the support, advice and information. This is one of the happiest days of my life.

I was wondering if my husband and I could go to Detroit with his passport and land the same day. I know Buffalo allows that, but does Detroit?

Thank you everyone!

Hi AngelB,

Congratulations!

As far as I know, you can land at any crossing. If I were you, I'd steer clear of Detroit and go through Port Huron, MI (a little more scenic and less busy) and cross into Sarnia, Ontario.

Thank you!!! I meant if we could bring his passport in to Detroit and land the same day instead of mailing our passport. :3

Answering my own question:

They do indeed have same-day visa issuance! ;)

Congratulations again. Where did you find the info? Would you know off hand if NY city offers same-day issuance?

Thanks,

Congrats! and boy was that fast!!!! :D

That is a good question - when you get PPR can you just go to Buffalo with passport and then land? Where do you go in Buffalo? Do you speak to the IO at the border in Buffalo?

Detroit returned my e-mail questioning it. While they cannot "guarantee" same-day issuance, they do offer it. I do not know about NYC. Buffalo allows same-day issuance, as well. You pretty much go to Buffalo for a couple hours and they give you everything right there, then you just cross the border and land!

Thank you everyone! It's been an amazing day!!

Thanks so much...enjoy this day it's a special one! :D

Good news about Detroit. It seems clear from New York City's website that they will not only not issue you the visa, but will refuse to see you or even take your passport from you if you were to show up in person. At least, that's the way I read it when I looked a couple of weeks ago.
