i am a psychiatric nurse in the UK and have application to register with BC nursing board en route - - should i apply to consulate already?Do i need a job offer first?? Do i need solicitor or not??? i also have submitted an application through a recruitment drive in nursing mag. - this seems to do everything for you. Is this likely to be the best and quickest way? Any one have experience of this - seems the more i explore the more confused i get!!!

Hi. I'm in a similar position to you, but I'm a radiographer. Apply for your skilled worker permanent resident visa, and while you are doing so you can apply for provincial and national registration. From my experience an agency will promise you the earth, but if you dont have possession of registration an employer will not touch you, not even a conditional job offer! And apparently unless you have work experience in Canada or USA it very hard to gain employment in your own field. Patience is a must! There are courses you can do in each province (you should check with whoever it is you register with in Canada) to bring you up to speed and that helps, or you can volunteer.Or you can can go on a temp working visa after you get registration, and then apply for pr. Whichever way you do it it will not be quick.

Hope this helps.
