Hi Everyone,

I need some advice. I just discovered an error made on my wife's(principal applicant) schedule A background/declaration form. On question 6. d.) we answered no but it should be yes because my wife was refused a visitor visa in the past. What should we do now? immediately submit a new form to Canadian Embassy Manila? our file was already sent to Manila on April 26th. Or should we wait until they contact us? should I email them now and let them know we will send a new form?

please help we are so scared and can't believe we missed that.. :(

That's a significant error that could be grounds for refusal.

Don't wait for them to contact you. Send an updated form with a cover letter explaining the error ASAP.

Also what is the best way to contact the VO in Manila?

I notice they mentioned email but the email provided on the sponsor approval email was: E-mail: https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=manila

which is not an email address...can you guys advise?

Personally I would fill out a new form ASAP with the correct information and write an explanation for that particular mistake AND ATTACH IT TO THE FORM.. This is to avoid problems with your application due to missrepresantation

It's only misrep if it's material to the case. Likely not in this case. But send a fax or go through the case specific enquiry email to send the updated Schedule A.

hello thanks for the reply. what does "material to the case" mean? I really hope it doesn't hinder our sponsorship, the question was in the middle of a bunch of questions regarding serious crimes and offences so we must have overlooked it by answering no to everything..*sigh*

also where is the case specific enquiry email? on my sponsorship approval email i was provided an "email": https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=manila, but that doesn't appear to be an email address and the link i click on it doesn't work...

I already told my wife to send in a new schedule A with a cover letter explaining, she will send it today.

thanks for your helps!

"Material" means has a direct impact on a case and could result in a different decision or consideration of other factors. For example, if you had answered NO to the question about criminal convictions but did have one that could make you inadmissible, that is a material fact. In your case, it was a mistake that can be explained and you should correct it as credibility is an issue in subjective applications like spousal sponsorships. But it is not a material fact as the intention of the sponsorship is permanent residence. If it was a TRV application, then it would be material to the case as the intention is temporary and it would look like you're trying to hide a previous rejection.

It's not an email address. It's a portal that will allow you to upload a document to add to the file. You have to go through the procedures indicated online to get to the portal. Or just fax the updated form.

wow thanks alot for that explaination. we couriered a new form with a cover letter explaining on the same day we discovered the mistake. I also faxed them and told them we are sending a new updated form as well as the email web portal. i think we did all we can and now just hope that they understand and the process can continue.

thanks again for your insight.

You will be fine and I am glad you couriered it as I have not experienced great success with electronic uploading. The notes only ever refer to the couriered documents

I and my brother applied for trv. But i mistakenly mentioned him as he is not accompanying me. What to do? Will that be a cause for refusal??
