The old GCKey portal and the new IRCC portal are essentially the same, and they will not make any difference in the processing of your application.
The old GCKey portal was the previous version of the IRCC portal, and it was used to submit immigration applications to IRCC. The new IRCC portal is the current version of the portal, and it is also used to submit immigration applications to IRCC.

The main difference between the two portals is that the new IRCC portal is more user-friendly and it has a number of new features, such as the ability to track the progress of your application online. However, the old GCKey portal is still functional, and you can still use it to submit your immigration application to IRCC.

So, whether you use the old GCKey portal or the new IRCC portal, it will not make any difference in the processing of your application. Your application will be processed in the same way, regardless of which portal you use.

Here are some of the benefits of using the new IRCC portal:
  • It is more user-friendly and easier to navigate.
  • It has a number of new features, such as the ability to track the progress of your application online.
  • It is more secure.
If you are applying for an immigration program, I recommend that you use the new IRCC portal. It is the most up-to-date version of the portal, and it has a number of benefits over the old GCKey portal.

However, if you are already using the old GCKey portal, you do not need to switch to the new IRCC portal. Your application will still be processed in the same way, regardless of which portal you use.
Thanks for clearing it out for me. I am using the old GCkey portal.

Is anyone aware of whether the old GCKey portal and the new IRCC portal make any difference in the processing of our application?
What's the new IRCC portal? Can you post a link?

Hi, I submitted EE PNP Inland on June 16th, AOR - the same date. Right now in Application Status Tracker:

Biometrics - In progress
Medical exam - Completed (in application medical exam passed on June 29th)
Eligibility - Not started
Background verification - In progress

In the application in the place of Biometrics on June 29th appeared the number, date 2019 and expiry date 2029.
Does anyone know why biometrics are still in progress?

Thank you

Tracker will continue to lag for biometrics. Trust GCKey for the status of biometrics. Use tracker for the "relatively" accurate status of background check and eligibility.

Thank you very much for your reply. Very helpful!!! Do they do eligibility after background finished? How long is usually eligibility and how long is usually background?

Hi.
My AOR was June 14. I had biometrics in 2020. I also didn’t pay for biometrics as I was not asked to do so during application submission. My biometrics data are now linked to my application, though PR tracker Biometric status is ‘In Progress’.
Hi, I am in the same situation like you. If you receive a request about biometrics please let me know and I will let you know if I receive it as well.

Question. Was anyone with AOR on or after June 14 able to pay Biometric fees? I answered YES to question, whether I have given biometrics in last 10 years and didn't see any Biometric fee and hence did not pay it. But as per new policy biometrics is must for all new PR application applied on or after June 14.

What should be done now, will IRCC request for Biometric fee as ADR?
Hi, did they send you a request letter for Biometrics? I am wandering what will happen to us who submitted after June 14th but could not pay for biometrics on the web site.

If you look at this timeline background check started before eligibility: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/april-2023-aor.793786/post-10530850 In my case, my eligibility was completed before background check. We see different patterns in different applications.

Eligibility usually doesn't take a long time (usually days or weeks). However, there are a few cases here where eligibility stayed in progress for months. Eligibility is processed within weeks for most applicants though.

Background check - a very old released document on this says it takes a max of 110 days to complete a background check. But, we see anywhere from a few weeks to 1-2 months here. If your application is sent for comprehensive security screen, it can take very long (a year).

If they start your background check and eligibility, expect a few months(max) to get the approval.

AOR-June 18th, Inland CEC, I submitted my application along with my spouse and children. Today, I received a request from IRCC to submit a form for designated individual authorization. I just noticed that my biometric information has been updated in the GC key portal. Since I haven't provided my new biometrics, especially after the recent announcement, I'm wondering if I should still expect to receive the Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL)?

Unusual question but, when submitting your applications did you guys upload your ECA and IELTS report? Some people upload them with their degrees, others don't since they are not requested (Other than trf # and ECA #)
