Hello,
Need some guidance,
We applied as a common law inland application.
Does anyone know how long will take to get the background check? It has been over a month since my eligibility check was completed.
Should I be calling the IRCC for more info? And what kind of background check is it, because I have submitted police verification from my home country and Canada.
Our application took almost 10 months total from submission to final decision and P1, and eligibility was passed after nearly 6. It's normal to have to wait at least 3-4 months after eligibility, or more if your eligibility was passed early on in your application. They do a more thorough background check than just a police certificate, as they check records in many countries and with intelligence services.

You can see our full timeline below.

Update:
My husband got P1 this morning! Replied immediately, so we'll see when P2 comes.

(Full timeline below)
P2 came about an hour ago. Just submitted everything. We were adjusting the photo for a long time to resolve the brightness warning, but we couldn't get it to resolve no matter what exposure or brightness adjustment we used. We increased exposure to the point of almost washing him out, and we still got the warning. We finally gave up and submitted with the warning. Hopefully, the case worker will find the photo to be sufficient.

Applied June 11th 2024. I was expecting P1 this week but instead got a request letter asking for my update resume earlier today. It asked to include specifics of my current job.
