Hey folks, I heard a rumor that Canada's immigration might be temporarily on hold due to the housing crisis. Could this be why many of us haven't received updates on our cases lately?

I don’t think so. Putting a hold on citizenship applications won’t effect housing crisis as we are already here in the country. May be they slow down the processing of Student Visas, PR and work permit applications.

If anything PMJT will push faster citizenship processing. Given his low polling numbers. Traditionally new Canadians are overwhelmingly liberal voters.

I doubt it — citizenship applicants are already here in the country. Also, the gov’t is bringing half a million people in. There’s also wide open immigration programs for Ukrainians and their relatives, who can come here paperwork free getting 3k Cad of support money at the airport. So it is full steam ahead bringing ppl in

Hi everyone. I just got an email from IRCC. It has attachments that say, important information regarding your electronic Canadian Citizenship Certificate. Is this the oath taking ceremony? But the thing is, in the tracker, it still says Citizenship ceremony not started. The email address came from Do Not Reply - Ne Pas Repondre <Client-update-mise-a-jour@cic.gc.ca>

This is actually true, there is a proposed Bill that will be discussed in parliament, if its gets passed we will see this.
The only thing that it will affect is the number of international students coming into the country. Bill is to put a cap on number of international students.

I received a fingerprint request and submitted them on 22nd August. The portal got updated yesterday and my background was marked as complete on September 11th. I haven't received the test invite yet. How long does it take to get the test invite after background complete? I see people have received test invite even before background is complete.

My wife has her ceremony in 2 hrs. Her tracker still shows Ceremony- Not started. (everything else shows complete)
Anyone else having the same issue with the online tracker?
I know it does not make any real difference, but just wondering if this would affect the citizenship certificate.

I dont think this would affect anything. Tracker update date is different than actual task update date if you see on history below. I think once you send oath form, it should be updated
