GU: Ghost Update, an update on the application portal with no change to any component of the process. Generally good indicates either an officer has opened your application or a general system update.

Hello everyone!

My wife and I applied for citizenship on June 18 and June 22, 2023 respectively. We have not received the AOR as yet.

Looking at the messages here from, seems like this is delayed.

My question for you all is - Should I be worried? If yes, what options do I have?

Here's the details:
Type: Online application
Location: Montreal, QC
Physical Presence Days: More than 1500+ days for both
Application: Myself and wife (separate individual applications)
Application sent: June 18 and June 22
AOR: Still Waiting

there is a link in your submission confirmation email that you can use to check the cic website to see what AOR dates are being sent out currently. You can use this to confirm whether you are right on schedule or delayed. Hope this helps

It happened to me today, they returned my son’s ( minor) application and automatically mine as I am adult and he accompanied mine! They return both. It’s frustrating and such a waste of time..

It's frustrating. Hope the re submission is processed quicker for you. You'll get thru this time.

Thank you for your kind words. The worse thing is that this is such a lengthy process, and people invest so much money and time to apply and then they return applications for reasons that make no sense and you are at step 1 again! I wish at least they could give people AOR and then you can send them whatever they ask for instead of refusing the whole group application! We can only pray for the best! I wish all the best for you with your application!

It has been always overnight to me. I never received an update during the day.

Question on ghost updates, would be received any email that you have an update on your account or would it be update just on citizenship tracker?
In PR process we usually got ghost email showing that you have an update is it same with citizenship process.
