neha25 thanks 4 understanding REALLY no PR I have seen NOT coming back after marrying.. THEY MUST change this restriction. And say sponsor lives there for many years he will as a PR lose his and his wife's PR status automatically. Who will be at LOSS? Sponsor + APPLICANT NOT the GOVT
True but i think its common sense too that pr must be living in canada ..catch word ‘living’ means working or paying taxes or paying bills in canada which most of us will be while visiting our spouses ..,isnt?
Even tourist visa for any country is valid for 6 months so how can being physically present or residing outside canada for anything lesser than 6 months be seen as living outside canada??
I just dont get the logic here
Also on one hand they reject app if sponsor or Pa havnt visited spouse in last 1 year ( yet they reject Trv visa for PA of sponsorship app in progress90% of times) on other hand if we want to visit and stay with our spouse for 3-4 months which proves relation is genuine they will reject the app then as well... anyway if Pr doesn't stay for 2 year time period in 5 year time pr will be cancelled which holds true for sponsor and principal applicant both if PA gets PR ..so what is the whole fuss about not allowing sponsor to visit spouse for more than 3-4 weeks during sponsorship app in process ...?!
Sorry for the rant but i believe this is being hippocratic and at the end of it one who is at loss is us and they dont care

I agree , don't know why such rules are there . May be they have more specific reasons. Like U said restrictions do exist for any PR for overstaying. A PR can be on a solid income and job>>could get 3 months LOA from work or business or even retd. There are persons who are Retd and are still PR>>then why is he not allowed to stay with wife for 2-3 months!? Rather this should be encouraged for PRs This can be done with such restrictions like >> simply filling out a FORM>submitting>approved>>GO. :) There are many residents here who never like to get Citizenship and are here for 20- 30 years. Getting Citizenship is not mandatory here.

If i am not wrong in order to maintain PR status one must be physically present in canada for 730 days in any given 5 year time period until they become citizens if they do ....
Anyways i sent a webform enquiry about same issue and if i can visit my husband for 3-4 months without risking his app and reply i got was about Pr obligations ..which is PR must be physically present for 730 days in 5 year period.. now what shall i infer from this as reply to my question. To me its telling that as long as you abide by PR obligations you are free to go anywhere ???

Reply is very clear ; if you are under that obligation of 730 days in 5 years, a visit should not affect her application. Rest depends on a senior member. This is my guess I gave from what you wrote

This is exaclty what my guess is and so far as Pr obligation is concerned i became PR in may 2017 and left canada only for 5 weeks in 2018 and so if i go in april i will only be left with 2-3 more months to fulfill this requirement

Just wondering 730 days within 5 years. How does tht apply to someone because i got PR status in May 2017. Can I visit for 3-4 months saying tht if we count 5year period from 2017 it will end in 2022 So I will still have time to complete 730 days can someone clear this please.

I wanna say its the average or i should say pattern of ones travel history if its not been 5 years yet And if you became Pr in may 2017 and only stayed in canada until you got pr card and established no ties in canada for example didnt buy house car or job etc since then this indicates no intention to settle in canada
I found this link and it might be helpful in understanding this fact better ..its someone whose sponsorship app was rejected due to more than one factor and one being not being present in canada long enough or residing in home country more than in canada since becoming PR

Having said all this ... visiting your spouse and staying there waiting for decision isnt a good idea .. my personal thought
But again so many things matter ..one being which stage your application is at ...
