Hi guys I thought about keeping you updated.

I sent a letter through email to the VO the same day I received the FDL letter explaining that this was done by mistake and that I have intention of jeopardizing my PR application and it was a case of simple and clear mistake. I wrote a very organized and well articulated letter with apologies and detailed explanation of the situation

And guess what! I received the pre-arrival email today ! not even 24 hours after sending my letter ! I thank god for that and I hope you all receive your DMs soon enough !

I wanted however to shout out for the people who blindly told me that this is a refused case and that a 5 year ban will apply that please don't play smart ass and say things that you have no control over no matter how posts you have posted.

The people that work at these visa offices are humans and they have minds to think and hearts to feel about every case by itself. If they sent a letter asking for something then they are asking for something to be CLARIFIED and they WANT TO HEAR YOU! Keep your hopes up people and dont let the negative posts affect your motivation, as long as you are truthful and clear, you are safe!

By the way... what happens after the pre-arrival email ? :p

I am very happy for you brother. I hope theses people understand your message too who believe in "research" and not logic.

I believe the step next would be DM and then PPR.

Best of luck!

Hi there!

Im new to this forum although our application is already on-going. In fact me and my daughter just finished medical exams in Manila couple of days ago so were technically just waiting for the approval of which and hoping to move forward from then. Our application was received June 6, 2017.

I have one concern though with regards to the non-accompanying form for a minor dependent child. My daughter is not my husband's, biologically speaking. My ex (which I never married) and I are not in good terms, and my daughter carries his last name. Ex doesnt want to sign the form, so when my husband and I submitted the form I wrote a letter to CIC narrating what I have gone thru with my ex and how I decided to cut all ties of my daughter from him together with a notarized affidavit saying that under Philippine Law the mother exercise absolute parental authority over an illegitimate child.

Long story short, we have come to this point of the application, does that mean that CIC has honored my letter and the affidavit? Last check with an immigration specialist, they told us that CIC always wants either the form or a custody order, and I currently doesn't have either one.

Hope somebody from this forum could share his knowledge or experience.

TIA!
Hi Megan,

Im new to this forum. Im in the same situation, had a son with an ex that I wasn't married but carried his name. However, I included my son in my application. Did you receive any feedback about the affidavit? Do you know anyone from this forum who has the same situation?

Thanks!

Where Innocent Misrepresentations are Not Misrepresentations - The Medel and Osisanwo Exceptions An exception arises where applicants can show that they honestly and reasonably believed that they were not withholding material information: Medel v. Canada (Minister of Employment and Immigration), [1990] 2 F.C. 345, [1990] F.C.J. No. 318 (F.C.A.) This is sometimes described as “subjective unawareness”

I hope the above give you some relief. I guess this time you did not do your research either because I found this on their website. lol

You too. have a good day!
applies when you have an illegitimate child.

Hi everyone, we just recently received a request through CPC Mississauga to complete the IMM 5409 - Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union. The form seems pretty straight forward but we are a tad confused about why they are asking us for this so late in the game. Anyways, it seems easy enough to do!

But since I couldn't find the instruction guide, I wanted to run through my lingering question:
  • For Section 1, we were able to answer "yes" to a couple of the categories they had outlined - we have a shared lease agreement and own other shared property.
  • But for Section 2, we have to say "no" to both questions because neither of us have each other beneficiaries on our life insurance plans
Do you guys think this may be flagged a problem? Just wanted to see if anyone had some thoughts/insight on this based on your experiences.
Also, it is not clear if we have to provide proof for any of these pieces. Let me know what you think.

Thank you :)

Very happy to see this. Congratulations to you and your spouse! Wishing you both all the best in Canada...
Do you mind sharing updates from medical to DM/PPR? My spouse got her meds done and passed, but no updates after that..
In regards to your question, PR should be mailed within 90 days after landing to the address indicated on COPR. you can verify with immigration officer once arrived in Canada.

Aamir, have sabr (patience). I think reason why u didnt hear anything and mine went boom boom one afta the other is because how fast particular visa offices work and also the fact my wife went for interview and after passing was told she woulda gotten visa on the spot if we had paid the rprf fee ahead of time and had med.

Funny thing was we had medical request before intrrview. It works out of order i dont think u can follow anyones particular timeline and it reflects for yours.

Cant remember dates off the top but it was like med request nov 14, interview passed nov 15, med pass nov 23 (like a week or 2 afta), then like first week of december had paasport request and now we got passport back...

Hang in there bro u will get it lord willin... Your visa office is just slackin at the moment but when they start going they go

I received an email from CIC to check our account. I logged into gckey and see that the applicant status is now blank and background check is saying not applicable. Has anyone been in this situation?

applies when you have an illegitimate child.

Congrats. Which VO?

hey yall just letting u know our whole process is done, passport was sent to embassy and now sent back and will be landing soon... didnt know how to update all this in the spreadsheet (its been very funny).... but thanks to all who responded to me early in the process and my messages and shared insight... best of luck to u all. peace.

quick question though - is the permanent resident card going to be mailed to our address is canada after she lands? when can we be expecting it and who would I reach out too if there is a problem receiving it?
Congrats. Dont worry about the PR card. It usually takes 45 days to recive at the address you mentioned in Landing Document or address that you indicate during landing which will be the first time u land in a Canadain airport.

by the way, Which was your VO?
