I'm a newbie to the site, it's the end of June so we'll be getting our application in July sometime. I have a question that one of you may know...

Can I be granted P.R whilst visiting Canada.

We're in Australia but would like to get over to Canada before the 'estimated 11 months' of processing. Sponsor is my husband and Canadian Citizen.

Our application was received in Mississauga on June 10. We received the AOR1 today, June 28. I'm a U.S. citizen married to a Canadian citizen.

I've been ghosting these threads for awhile now, so it's great to finally be able to post!

There are several of us in Canada doing an outland application. The only issues about filing from inside Canada is actually getting into Canada. I had a two hour chat with the border patrol trying to assure them that I would return to the US. Be honest, but also be prepared. Have a return ticket, letter from your work, and anything else that would assure them that you would return to your home country.

So you entered into Canada on a tourist visa and then submitted your outland application whilst there? We will be submitting our application ASAP and then entering Canada next year. For example; submit July 2016 and enter Canada May 2017 (approx. wait time for Sydney, Aus. is 11 months so we may be there whilst it gets approved)

I figure even a booked flight to the US could take the heat off us a little? They do like to see those flights out again.

Sydney is much, much faster than that (4-6 months if I remember correctly). Remember, processing times on the website are the times that it takes 80% of application to get through in that amount of time or less. However, if you do the medical just before you submit your application, you could probably land when you were planning (the COPR is valid until the medical expires, which is valid for 12 months, unless the principal applicant's passport expires sooner).

US citizens are visa-exempt, so they came with a visa-exempt passport, which is not a tourist visa. If you hold an Australian passport, then you're visa-exempt too.

Emailed my spouse's PR application yesterday via FEDEx. Just checked. The FedEx tracker shows it is delivered and received by D.DAVID. Now the waiting game begins. Fingers crossed. I am a Canadian PR , my spouse is a student in US (student visa).

That's awesome, and it means we may have ours either today or tomorrow. We sent our app on June 11 and it was received by CIC on the 13th. You got AOR in 18 days so the average time for AOR seems to be improving, I've been seeing 20+ days in other threads.
