I think I am going to have to request for ATIP from CIC because it's been nearly four months since I sent my application to Sydney and I have heard nothing at all about it. I have no idea what is happening to my application. Other people have received some sort of update that their applications are being processed. Even those people who are waiting for over a year know that their applications are being processed even if the final results are not known.
I finally called the CIC call centre to speak to someone to find out my application. The person could not tell if it was being processed, he just that the file might be complete and that it's just there at the Sydney office.
The worse part about this is that other applicants who applied around the same time as me, their applications are being processed or the application got sent back because it was missing some documents. At least they know their applications were looked at. Me I don't know anything at all.
It is so strange for my case that I don't even know what they are doing with the application. I haven't been able to access e-cas up to know. I've used my client id, PR card number, application number, and receipt number to get any update about it but the same message saying that no information about my file can be accessed at this time.
I wonder what went wrong with my application...??????

Also, I live in Toronto so should I involve my MP's office in this matter or would that be going to far?

Did you give an email address in your application? If yes, did you check emails, especially the junk folders regularly? Otherwise you might miss your AOR. As of now CIC is updating through multiple means i.e., email only, e-cas only etc.etc. Those who got email no e-cas update was done and vice versa.

As per CIC call center, they are opening(processing) applications received last week of July (July 21th on last Tuesday) now. Still there may be some applications stuck in the pileup somewhere. But if they send you an email AOR and suppose you miss it, you will not be able to see anything in e-cas even though it is "in process" now.

when did your application received by CIC? mine was received on 30 June and having same situation as your i am also from Toronto ...

I sent mine on July 7th 2014 and the Sydney office received it on July 10th
