kourts, what's the latest you've heard from CIC? I totally relate to your situation although mine is even more depressing. The only thing CIC has ever said is to "expect a letter in the mail" but nothing has come in, you can see my timeline in the spreadsheet, link below. In my case is even more distressing since I cannot contact the CIC by phone, as husband and I reside out of Canada and all our attempts to get in touch with the call centre, except the first and only one, have been unsuccessful.

anyways, i hope your situation gets resolved quickly, at least you can be with your spouse in Canada while waiting, and have some clue as to where your file currently is.
Aneyshar, do you have problems calling CIC overseas?
Maybe I can help you out.

There's also a chance it could come by email. Have you checked the email account of the sponsor in your case? Another possibility is that since the sponsor is also overseas, it could be taking a bit longer to mail from Mississauga to you. By the way, did you provide enough evidence in your application of your plans to both live in Canada?

ddobro2, yes to both questions. We sent everything requested on the checklists, but if it wasnt sufficient, wouldnt CIC then contact us to ask more? or outright refuse it? either way, wouldn't they communicate that, preferably through the fastest method, which is email? We provided both our email addresses, but for some reason they decided not to use them to send us information, doh!

plus, how long could it take for a piece of correspondence to arrive? even considering that snail mail can be somewhat unreliable, we get all our correspondence without any problem, still I recognize that the odds can get on the down side if CIC and/or important papers are involved.

Well, I feel your pain re: the Call Centre, because unforch, you can't call it from outside Canada. Leon, who is superbly helpful, had posted elsewhere that you could ask a relative in Canada who has 3-way calling and knows how to use it to set you up. If it makes you feel any better, that Call Centre and its agents are not very helpful.

The comment about showing that you both intend to settle in Canada once the process is over did not have to do with the sponsorship approval per se. In fact I don't believe they put that into consideration at that stage. When they do step 1, there are basically checking to see if the sponsor meets the criteria for undertaking a sponsorship for 3 years. Most sponsors are approved; those that are found ineligible are generally found so for criminal or financial reasons. Basically, I'm saying that I believe they wouldn't check into that issue until it got to the VO anyway.

I would sign up for e-cas tracker. Put in all the information about your application that applies (Client ID, if you have one or both for PA and sponsor, the receipt from the fees payed, etc.). It will email you when it is able to log you into e-cas. I've heard of at least one other person who never got an acknowledgement of sponsorship approval yet e-cas showed that their application arrived at the VO, which does not happen unless CPC-M approves the sponsorship (hence step 2 following step 1). Good luck.

Oh, that's great! I'm assuming the OP is in Guatamala, so I don't know if that would work for him/her.

thanks Mandy, that's a number I never knew about, I'll try that too.

ddobro2: Did the etracker thing, followed all the configuration recommendations, and up to this date nothing. I wonder if my email can get that fuzzy? yet i receive emails periodically, I even get emails from the local Canadian embassy (udpates on embassy stuff, etc., nothing of interest...), etc, nothing in the spam, except for the ocassional viagra and masculine enhancing stuff lol

I can say that this journey is both unpredictable and enerving, though i try to remain sane in spite of the circumstances.

I thank all of you for the numerous suggestions for reaching the CIC, i've tried some without success already, i'll continue with the fight... until the end (cue Queen classic in).

good luck to you all.
