Applied in Vienna, Austria:

Visitor Visa Applied: July 22, 2024
Biometric given: July 24, 2024
Background verification: In Progress
Eligibility: Not started

I have tickets for an end of May 2025 trip but am not sure I will get a visa in time with this kind of processing.

Ordered GSMS notes for IRCC, CSBA and CSIS on December 29, 2024. Still waiting for all of them...

I am in Austria. When I applied the processing time was around ~40 days, then it slowly went down to ~20 days, then it started to climb up...

At some point my processing time was 3x the average processing time in Austria and I sent a web form to the Vienna office. They just confirmed that they received my application and biometrics.

Now the processing time in Austria is around 280 days....

So if 280 days then that is the current processing time. Nothing to do but wait. You are told not to buy tickets so hopefully you a) get response by then or b) tickets can be changed/refundable.

My tickets are not refundable:(

If the GCMS notes show that the security check hasn't even started yet I'm thinking of withdrawing in Austria and reapplying in New York where the processing time is much more sane.

So you are in the US now to reapply from there? Security check doesn’t change by moving countries as it depends on the countries you have lived in and live in.

I can go to the US at any time, this is not a problem for me.

Given that there are people waiting in Austria from January 2024 for over a year without a decision and similarly no movement, I have a feeling that they haven't even touched my application at all.
