Well OP said they are a January 2021 applicant so chance of it being an actual AOR is almost zero. At the moment, us (July) and August 2020 are getting AORs distributed.

Hi everyone, did you received an email from the government about the status of your application? We can now see weekly update status of the processing of the family class sponsorhip. When I looked at the status tool it says they are processing applications from 2019! I feel so sad right now! what about the OWP? When will that arrive!
Oh my God, yes I got the email. I’m going to start worrying again. I got my AOR on 15th March and still can’t able to link my application please anybody trick to link my application I tried everything. Nothing works
I have not received any such mail. What did it say exactly? Plus I have been using that online tool and it has been saying 2019 since a while although a lot of people from Jan, Feb 2020 have received Copr so I am not sure how that system works.

July 17 app here. Just got Medical request March 28th. Had been busy as my son was born on March 19th, so the medical exam came in a good timing. Booked exam to be done on April 7th, and cost is about $350(exam/lab/x-ray) in Vancouver.
Hi there, I see that you received your AOR on the same day that Background Check started. How were you able to check that background check started? I am asking because I called the automated voice mail to check my application status and it changed from "received" to "we are processing your background check". Trying to determine how soon I might receive AOR if all my docs are up to snuff.
When the app is linked on GCKey, you can see the status of multiple things like biometrics, background check, medical, etc. When I linked my app, I saw that the status for background check was already processing.
If they're processing background check for you, it's possible that you may get AOR soon? I recently checked the spreadsheet and people are getting AOR in a weird pace and also in separate months, perhaps a couple people are working faster than others in the immigration office... but who knows.
