Just got request for passport pages photocopies. I have already given the test and got 'test complete' status.

I was hoping somebody could tell how much of a delay is associated with this additional documents request/processing.

Also, the letter asks me to courier to Scarborough office, so I guess my VO needs to be updated from Toronto to Scarborough?

Thank you!

I also got the same request by email today from Scarborough office. I applied on July 20, 2020. I also renewed my passport in August 2020. Does that mean I don't need to send photocopies of renewed passport since the request letter is only asking for colour photocopies for travel documents during the 5 year eligibility period?

This kind of requests actually not a delay but a quick way to move to DM. There are many applicants waiting for 3-5 months after test without even any of this request. So delay is not just due to documents request, it can happen even without it.

Just the passports you held during the eligibility period(which is prior to your application date), not the one renewed after you applied.

Even if party changes, nothing can change CIC. CIC is an autonomous rogue institution which is part of Canada but not part of regular Canada.
So we should never worry/expect about party/minister change since no change will happen.
I do not think u are right on this

CIC is no different than Treasury or National deffwnce. It is department of Government of Canada

I do not know what you mean autonomous or regular Canada?

If there will be change, minister will change. Refer to Discover Canada book part about Cabinet.

You need to look at history of cic processing times.
10 years ago too there was huge backlog for processing citizenship applications - took more than 2-3 years. It only gradually decreased due to more automation and funding across various party tenures.

Change in party is not having any direct immediate effect is my point.

Recently gave test on Discover Canada hence i know the structure more than ever now. But CIC is different than any other department because cic is the organization that serves just non-citizens hence any party would be giving least priority instead of keeping them on their toes as they focus on serving their citizens first(just like we saw in the last 10 years across various party tenures).

I was just teasing with words "not part of regular canada" just to highlight on cic officers can delay any application without any reason (which we have seen in forums with multiple candidates as well as in court cases too).

Thanks for the reply!

Quick question - I have some stamps from travelling in the middle east that are in Arabic - do I need a translation for those stamps?

Yes need to be translated for sure.

This is not entirely true. The last conservative government put in place other requirements for the citizenship (4/6 and intent to stay in Canada). If the new government enacted new rules, and made them effective immediately on current applicants, our applications could potentially be rejected.

We are only talking about processing time of citizenship application.
Yes eligibility rules can change. But it doesnt retroactive (even in conservative rule), not happened in the last decade, not for citizenship eligibility at least. Also any rule change takes at least 1-2 years to start getting implemented hence our files would be done before that ;) i hope .

yes people wanting party change will anyway end up spending more time on eligibility. So more or else, we need to spend 5-6 years average in any party to get the citizenship unless all things are working well like in 2019(which took only 1 year to get citizenship for many/most if not for all).

Bro why are we stressing now? Lets see who wins the elections.. untill them I'm sure most of us will be through our citizenship process.

@Canadiann2020

It is obvious Liberals

Concervatives do not have strong candidate

NDP does not have a program
