Hello Senior Forum Members, I have a question on which I need help.

I and my spouse applied for citizenship together as a family application. We have recieved AOR and are waiting for test invite.

My spouse has now decided to not take Canadian citizenship (as it requires losing Indian citizenship). I understand that the test invite will be received by both together, pls. advise how and at which point should we withdraw spouse's application without impacting my application.
a) should we email right now
b) should I proceed to test; and attend ceremony - will I be allowed to do that alone if my spouse does not appear for test and does not communicate anything (as it is a family application)
c) should I proceed to test; and carry a letter about intent to withdraw from spouse

Any other option possible.

Also is it possible to get a refund of processing fees for spouse application.

Thanks a lot.

Citizenship application always individual, even yo both applied same time still it is individual application. Yes your spouse can withdraw his/her application but fees will be non refundable since the application is in process. Withdrawal of your spouse application will not impact on your application.

This isn't in reply to your specific question of whether your wife's candidacy withdrawal will affect your application, however, I fail to see why your wife would not apply for OCI which will give her nearly all the rights of an Indian citizen. I can of course understand the problem in case your wife holds agricultural land or intends to stand for public office in India at some point. Otherwise, It seems like a frightful waste of time and money to have gone through the process when one should have known from the beginning that applying for Canadian citizenship meant giving up one's Indian passport (and applying for OCI - Overseas Citizen of India)

Look into OCI, it’s ponitless to cancel the process unless she is going to be a farmer or run for office.
