I decided to withdraw my application today and as I opened my file, I saw a ghost update saying background check has been started,(from not started yet)....

Please anyone would suggest that is ghost update near to PPR? Can this be refused too??

I am still in Review. Few of my friends have received PPR...There is no specific time after ghost update...But its a positive sign that things are moving...You will get soon....Hang in...Dont withdraw your application....

They haven't mentioned anything specific, but it says that it was under review and I attached and sent in additional documents like my duties and responsibilities and the amount i was getting paid. now today I received my 2nd set on GCMS notes but I don't see any changes made to my profile since.

I know all the steps of my application just got completed last weekend.
Eligibility, Criminality and Security passed. And on the same day that my security was passed they have requested for medical extension as my medical results are valid until June. This is the final step and my file will be approved after this extension.
Has anyone had a similar case? Do you guys know how long does it take for them to clear this extension and make the final decision?

Do not withdraw, you are just a few steps from your PPR. This is not a ghost update but an update on your background check to indicate it has started. Means that your eligibility is passed. If you are not selected for security screening then you will get PPR very soon.
Have you tried to call IRCC?

@cansha @tobs @legalfalcon After 10 exact months, I moved to IP2 yesterday Friday May, 3rd.
CIC also requested 3 items:
1. Supplementary Student form (i don't know why the hell they sent me this form)
2. CV (but why? i am a FSW-outland)
3. Schedule A Background/Declaration

Please has anyone came across such requests, namely the first one? i would really appreciate his guidance.

Yes. Even though my file is at CIO Sydney for months now Ottawa has always responded to my CSE directly (not forwarding it to a different office).
Anyway, I guess its useless to assume anything here, better if I call them to find out if indeed my file has moved to another location or not :D

IRCC people are so hostile...did not utter a word after a wait of 30 mins....Said the application is in your local VO, can't say what's the current status...ask local VO...
But local VO haven't replied since I raised last webform 30 days back
