Thanks Elie72. I hope we get it soon. People who did test after us already got citizenship. Any idea why few ppl are still stuck? did you call them to check?

i think the main issue is the lack of ceremonies in Edmonton for the last two months. Only now (starting March, you can go and see), there are more ceremonies. Hopefully, we will get it soon. It is useless to ask unless our file extends beyond 12 months.

Regards,

It’s because they are sending oath invitation by the time you applied for citizenship. When you wrote your test is a non factor. For example, for Scarborough Office, they are now finishing up May applicants and going in to June. But for some other offices in the country, even October applicants also got citizenship.

So it really depends on when you applied and which offices you applied for.

Hi everyone,

My file says decision made back on Jan 8 this year but I got a voice message from CIC saying they want me to contact them as they have questions on my file. I don't understand is this normal? I already went through interview and exam and all they said was that I would get an oath letter in the mail and now this.

Any insight?

Please do call and make sure it is the CIC.

Thank you

Hey
I’m confused. What’s the process? After test they tel you the results and give you oath paper same day ?
Or you hav to wait even after giving test. PleAse guide me..

@Reta1 Some people have been lucky enough to be given an Oath letter on the same day as their test (after they have passed it and spoken to the officer), but most have to wait until they receive it in the mail much later. Usually if you ask the officer they will give you some indication on when you can expect to receive it, if they don't give it to you on the day. It just depends on the office you take your test at! But I would say by and large most people are having to go home after the test and wait 4-6 weeks to receive their oath letter in the mail.

Thank you so much. It helps. But I hope I get processed ASAP I have been waiting since July 25.

What is the status on your Ecas? If it is still DM then, we have seen many fraudulent calls being made to the candidate just to get their personal information. Be careful. I would have called the number and be very careful about making sure if that is CIC on the other side. I think if you raise your concern about security, then they would understand.

If you Ecas has been changed to "IP" again, then it may be something they really need to talk you with.

Let us know how it goes.

Not necessary. according to spreadsheet, people who applied during same month as me and even up to 2 months after me had their oath done. i think it is just random

Are they applied for the same office? Every office has different timeline. I meant to say, Scarborough has May 2017 in running but Calgary may have August 2017 - like this. But its in the order they received in that particular office.

Not necessarily. I’ve had a couple people apply before and after my wife. They got invited to the oath and one completed it while she’s waiting after DM.

Please update my status. Test and interview done on Feb 15, decision made on the same day and invited to attend the ceremony next month. Best of luck to those who are waiting. Thanks for everyone on this forum.

I've applied for citizenship with my parents ( both are over 55 and don't speak English). We are now at test/interviews stage and will have it on the same date and time. The invite letter included an extra sheet of information for accompanying person or interpreter and it states the accompanying person or the interpreter must not have citizenship application in progress. So can I be the interpreter as I will have the test and interview with them on the same day and time or not? Please share your experiences if you have similar situation.
Are you a representative on your parents application? If yes, you can accompany with your parents to the interview.
