July 2017 Citizenship applicants

I do not believe so. The officer may ask what you do now during the interview, but I do not think unemployed relates to the requirement of being a citizen.

I going paranoid. 2 people from July and 2 from August who took test/interview in Edmonton after me got the oath letter and I don't know why. Driving me crazy.

Don't worry it will come. it is a matter when your clearances are complete. It depends from which country you are initially. Citizens of some countries take usually more time to complete their clearances but ultimately, it will come. I am as well waiting.
Hopefully you will receive your oath letter very soon.

for my other application ( Mrs_Syed_h_sha) e-cas updated to decission made and they called for Oath on same day Jan 19th as mine at different time.. one more month to get our certificates..

After that no update. I am getting so frustrated now because people who applied in September are getting test invite already.Do they request finger printing from everyone or only from few people? My PR card already expired now and i dont really want to apply for it because i dont have any plans to go out of the country. .Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It just depends on the location. Places with more applications are in general slower. There are many people in the same boat as you.. you just need to wait patiently..it'll work out sooner or later

I applied for passport in person today - exactly two business days after oath, as required. The whole process including waiting in line took 10 minutes. They just examined and copied my original documents (they return you originals on the spot), went through my application line by line and took my credit card payment. The lady was very surprised that my guarantor signed in a different city - so I explained that I could not find any guarantor in Ottawa so I courriered my package to my guarantor in Calgary for signing and then got it back this morning. She said ok. She said passport should come in two weeks by registered mail.

I must say this guarantor thing is a big pain somewhere down there. The very few Canadians I know close enough to ask for such a favour either do not have passport or know me for less than 2 years or do not wish to disclose date of birth or are on a 1-month vacation etc.

And after passport I went to pick up my new citizen cultural pass - so I am looking forward to all those free admissions and discounts.

Hey don’t get frustrated. I’m in same boat I applied in July
August application received
Sep started working on it
And got anything else it’s been 4 months

And my pr is card is expiring too.
Can’t do much except wait.
