I believe even they would need to be in Canada for 1460 days to be eligible to apply for citizenship so if they go back in April (before July 2018), I don't think they would be eligible for citizenship. And as far as I know, for whoever any kind of documentation needs to be made (Passport and all)..they would have to be physically present at least initially. I could be wrong, but I would call the IRCC agents to get a clearer picture.Me and my kids are PR for past 2yrs. I will be eligible to apply citizenship in July'2018. My kids living with me now will go back home country next year in April. Can I apply citizenship for them even they are not living in this country, if yes can I get their citizen paper in ceremony and apply for Canadian passport and get it for them. I will be here till I get passport.
