July 2015 PNP CIC Applicants

I applied for BOWP under LMIA exempt Provincial nominee. If you have full time job and PNP you can apply without AOR.
But remember your employer has to provide employer compliance form and fee of 230 CAD.

If you have make an application for open work permit then only CIC asks for $100 extra fee + checks if you have received an AOR. Open work permit is for any employer. So, one particular employer does not have to pay compliance fee and provide forms.

One can apply for work permit extension with the same employer. PNP nomination and support letter makes you LMIA exempt.

So, in order to get work permit with the same employer that PNP nominated you with - your employer needs to pay $230 and fill out some forms and the work permit you get is close.

You might have made application for open work permit rather than with same employer (you have not filled out any information in employer part of form IMM5710). CIC usually checks if a person has passed initial stage of PR application which is AOR. So, in your case, it could be that you have passed the initial stage and about to receive AOR email from CIO.

My pgwp will expire next week so that currently I am working on online BOWP application without AOR... But the required documents are only IMM5710, passport and photo. I cannot find any place where requests the FN or the copy of the AOR. Is it a problem?

I have made work permit application with same employer.
PNP Nomination on May 28th
Work permit application on 4th June with same employer ( IMM 5710 +provided employer compliance form( 5802) + fee 230 + 155 WP Fee)
PR application to CIO on July 8th
Existing WP expired on July 30th
CIC requested Open work permit holder fee on Sep 24th
Open work permit on 2nd Oct

Do you have any employer's name on your nomination certificate? Did you fill out employer information on form IMMM5710?

According to CIC you can only get open work permit if you are in Canada, have made application for open work permit, passed initial stage of PR application.

Yes, it do have employer name in nomination certificate. I mention my employer name in IMM5710. i haven't received my AOR yet.
Might be CIC have the info about my application eligibility check. :'(

It is a totally rare case that you applied for closed work permit and they gave you open without even applying for it. What does it say on your work permit under employer - any or your employer's name?

You should be ok If you answered all eligible questions correctly. Online system will automatically bring the right option after you complete your eligibility questionnaire.

Make sure you select you have applied for PR and have passed the initial stage of it (even if you did not yet)

No nothing about employer and no employment restrictions. Valid till next October.

I applied the same way as you did. I received my AOR even before I got my work permit extension approved. But, I got close work permit as I made close work permit application.

So, I suggest everybody to apply according to the rules and don't think that you can get open work permit without even having an AOR.

Ash321 - your case is rare that you got open work permit luckily I know many people who applied the same way as we did and always got closed work permit.

You can try but most of the time CIC does not make any changes to your application after you submit it. You can only provide more documents if they request it.

But it does not hurt to try if you need open work permit. You can write a letter and mail it to Vegerville. Make sure you provide all the details about your application and also send a copy of your AOR and ask them to add it your application.

Is your current work permit still valid or was valid at the time of your new application?
