Hello everyone... Received a letter via email with confirmation of file number . Is this AOR??
What the acronym for AOR???

Update on receiving file number via email:- August 16 2012

Cheers!!!!

yay! we're moving quite along!

AOR = acknowledgment of receipt :) i think they are changing the system, Sydney CIO is issuing them instead of visa office (CPP-O)~ :)

I just had my application returned to me as incomplete. When I sat my IELTS exam I sat the academic test and not the general one (I don't know if this has changed in 2012 as I was sure that it was academic that was required when I first compiled my application in 2011). This is an oversight on my part and I won't be able to sit the new test in time and submit my application again before the one year deadline passes, so I will not be resubmitting.

I wish all of you the best of luck with your applications.

I am really sorry to hear that. The CIC requires the IELTS exam on General Training Test only. Please see below. Wish you best of luck.

Proof of language proficiency

At time of the application, you must:

submit language test results from a designated testing agency

For your application to be eligible for processing, you must include the results of one of the following language tests from a testing agency designated by CIC:

English

IELTS: International English Language Testing System (General Training test only)

hi makunda, i just saw your profile.. i also wrote buffalo! i think many of us did..

i filled my forms in late may, and didn't even know about the closure of buffalo office until after i sent out my application.. since they closed in july??

we're all in the same boat, they should be smart to transfer them to CPP-O :)

hi nikkit,

this is a nice forum, and it is helping us all in so many ways. Thanks a lot to everybody for sharing their information.

Yes, some of us wrote Buffalo, USA; So, let's hope it goes to Ottawa Office automatically. Please keep us updated about your application progress. I would do the same.

Thanks for your reply. All the best!!!

I think they will automatically send them to Ottawa. On my returned form the I had put London (UK) as applying from the UK, but the official who reviewed the application had scored it out and put in Ottawa. I imagine this will happen with your applications also.

I'm wondering if I'm the only member who submitted their CEC application using legal representation.

In this case, should I have received the AOR at the same time as some others on here?

I used legal representation as well. My lawyers informed me after a week that they had my AOR a week ago. However, I knew that AOR was received because my ecas was updated before the lawyers informed me about receiving my AOR.

ECAS shows " Application received" - July 19. Now the waiting goes on... Good luck to everyone!

Sorry to hear that JohnBhoy. But I am glad your options are still open based on the post from OhCanadiana..
