Dear everyone,

Tonight, before Christmas comes, I would like to greet each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas. For those who do not celebrate this event, i say Happy Holidays my dear brothers and sisters.

Before the week ends too, I would like to close it with a bit of news...

Since my children who are on vacation temporarily "occupied wall street, err the house" I only got to read my emails now. I received a letter from FSW informing me that they have received my payment and that I have received a PER ;D ;D ;D ho ho ho ho ho ho. I am happy to share with you this good news. I hope we all get good news for the coming year ahead.

Cheers ;)

Hi Fazeme, I dread Canadian winter, please can you tell me more ? More so about winter in Toronto. Just checked it's -4 °C , Oooo I 'm shivering already.

Thanks.

RKC....this is supposed to be the best winter people remember in Toronto. Except today rest of the week is good and suprisingly NO SNOW so far!

-4 is not so bad, as long as you have warm clothes and heating at your home of course :D

may be it's not so bad. But astoshka ,for a person who is used to coastal plains climate (current temp 27° C), using ACs all the year round , not used to multiple layers of dressing , it gets a bit too much. Anyways, If at all God almighty & CIC decides to grant me PR , I should be able to manage.

YH, we so far have 4 MRs from NDVO. Two came by email (actung & sneh) & the other two by post ( tim & mang). Though I wish all communication from CIC to the clients could be done using electronic mail. I'm not expecting my MR before 2nd week of Jan or later. :( I've sent you a PM , pls check :)

Replied to your PM RKC....I am so thrilled :-)

Congrats dear.

Thank you Bbhandari! Have you received your AOR?

Dear Sabu:

Even after my PER I never heard from London VO. I got my PER Sept 29 and almost two months later.. on November 22nd i got an extra line in Ecas saying - We started processing your application. LVO do not send 2nd AOR.. so none of us got this. Looking at your timleines, I think you may get your medical papers.. by mid Jan 2012 or before that.. if all background/ security checks have gone well..
There is no need to worry, it will all fall in place in Gods time...

This is a post on another thread from Odin2404. An answer to my query to him. Thought I'd share with you.

Hey Guys...

Back again. Work keeps me away more than I would like. A lotta people ask me questions about job prospects for NOC 0631 so I'll just share it on my favourite thread

1) Job Prospects: if internet boards and sites are to be believed then there are a lot of jobs out there in the 631 NOC, you need to keep an open mind. i.e. Senior managers need to be open to junior positions etc.

2) Experience Value: Not a lot, if you have five star experience in an international chain, it might get you some leverage. For eg: the Ritz Carlton will always re hire staff that worked there (hopefully not too long ago), same with the Starwood group (Sheraton, Meridien, Westin, etc.)

3) Salary Ranges: its a very dynamic question - for a rest manager (to make it simple) between 24 to 50k pa. Really depends on the organization.

4) The First Job: This one is a real bi*ch. Everyone wants Canadian experience. Like I mentioned earlier, I got tired of applying online and started walking into hotels trying to meet the F&B manager or GMs and introducing myself, this worked for me!

5) Getting Education certified: I did not get my education certified as this is an unregulated sector. When you arrive here you can deicde for yourself. Do not see the merit in getting it certified in India. "THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR ALL NOCs"

6) CV / Resume: For heavens sake do some homework and google this.

7) Word of caution: Beware of "desis" trying to hire you to their family run Hilton / Holiday Inn franchise. These hotels are the bottom of the spectrum (Hilton Garden Inn / Holiday Inn Express / Staybridge suites etc) have staff that has no title (head cook and bottle washer type) and they ask you to be a consultant or a contractor so that you're not on their rolls and that means no benefits and they can let you go whenever. Do not join these guys under any circumstances. Better of working free standing restaurants.

Wish you all on this forum the best and lemme know when you guys are arriving. I may not be able to do much but can certainly answer questions and shed some light on a dark winter night .... very poetic eh?

Cheers,
O

hi YH is there any other thread like this to guide the engineers about their future job in canada....
