Hello guys, please comment on the below update by CIC on their website....

Total complete applications received since July 1, 2011

On July 1, 2011, the eligibility criteria for Federal Skilled Worker applicants changed.

Between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012, a maximum of 10,000 complete Federal Skilled Worker applications will be considered for processing. Within the 10,000 cap, a maximum of 500 Federal Skilled Worker applications per eligible occupation will be considered for processing within this same time frame.

Starting November 5, 2011, CIC will accept a total of 1,000 applications from international students who have completed at least two years of study towards a PhD and or who graduated from a Canadian PhD program in the 12 months before the date their application is received by CIC. Find out more about eligibility for this category or see the number of applications received to date on this site.

These limits do not apply to applications with an offer of arranged employment (job offer).

Applications received toward the overall cap: 2,983 of 10,000 as of October 31, 2011

*The number of complete Federal Skilled Worker applications received as of October 31, 2011 is approximate.

**Once the cap has been reached, we can only accept applications for this occupation from people with an existing offer of arranged employment.

Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, the CIO cannot review each application for completeness on the same day it arrives at the office. The numbers on this page are updated at least once a week, but these figures are meant as a guide only. There is no guarantee that an application sent in now will fall within the cap by the time it reaches the CIO. We are looking into ways to minimize the effect of this on website updates.

Applications received from PhD applicants:

Applications received toward the overall cap: 0 of 1,000 as of November 5, 2011
Its just that they have launched a new program for PHD holders/students who are getting the degree from a reputable university in Canada. This has no affect on us however it shows a serious change of Mr. Kenney's methodology in attracting new immigrants.
I personally like the idea and think it is for the best of the country that will be our new home soon.

Guys, I got the email, "awaiting initial processing" too, but also got a new email yesterday saying that my app filed after the CAP REACHED. My app filed july 11th. So, everybody filed from that date onward will probably get their apps back too. End of the game for me this year, now lets just hope that next year the 1122 will still be on the list!

Thanks for everyone that helps this forum with infos!

hi guys! sorry if i skipped some of your inquiries. the thread gets long fast and i may not always be there to sift thru all the msgs so jus send me a PM if u have a question. id be glad to help.

not really sure what the exact sequence is but this is what the DMP told me and true enough there is a tick box on the IMM 1017 medical report form that says "Findings that may require more extensive investigation or care."

The verification call done for me was not exactly centered on my job. More of my living arrangement coz i wrote down 2 current addresses. Although they did ask me if i am still with my current employer and went as far as ask why i was absent from work lol. actually i was on vacation leave. the questions were very random. I can tell they were looking for inconsistencies so jus stick to the truth and you'll do fine.

an important thing the CEM employee told me was that if i dont take their call, my application would be set aside and put on hold. so whatever u guys are doing, PLEASE TAKE THE CALL. otherwise your app will be placed at the bottom of some God knows what queue.

and no. they do not entertain return calls. ;)

Thanks for the valuable info. :)

This a their "diplomatic" way of saying that the website update of the figures received is not accurate. This was experienced first hand by many of the 1122s who saw their applications return back to them when they thought that they have made the cap for sure.

The update on the website is actually for applications received till 2nd week of August (we know that because we keep track of CC charges) however they label it as apps received till date and they say that it is ment as an indication only to hide the actual gap between "publishing" the figures and the "actual" date.

They cannot publish the actual date given the fact that there is a 2 month gap which they will get hammered for by opposing political party. Immigration is really important for them and gaps/backlogs are a very sensitive issue.

So that means September applicants including myself for NOC 3131 are out of this brutal game as per your analysis?

100% agree

hello forum, I am completely new in this forum and I am as stressed out as all my other friends. Now the reason I logged in today and I am posting is just to share few of my thought which I believe is close to accurate.

Now I have seen many people worried about the cap of the application reached or not, its one of the big huddle in the immigration. Friends I have also seen people recommending different things that CIO is working on august application. Friends first of all we need to understand that file completeness check and file eligibility check is done by two different section of the immigration office. Secondly the numbers of application which is updated in the CIC website is the number of COMPLETE application NOT the number of ELIGIBLE application.

Now friends, eligibility check takes 90 days, if we consider that they are two different section and eligibility and completeness check is not done together than there has to be a time difference between completness check and sending a PER. That time difference is normally 25-35 days. So we can see that the completeness check is normally done 30-35 days before sending the PER. This is when the CC/ DD gets charged and the CAP numbers are updated in CIC website.

Now if the friends who have submitted there application in 08th. AUG is recieving there PER now, that means there completeness check of those application was done on 04th OCT, and it took another 30 days to send them the PER. Now if the application submitted on 4th AUG has there completeness check done around 4th OCT, that means it takes 2months/60 days for the completeness check of an application.

From the above we can conclude that completeness check takes 60 days so if the cap numbers in the CIC website for a perticular NOC is less than 500, even after 60 days of submitting the applcation than you will be within the cap. Although PER/NER will come after 90 days of submitting the application.

hope for the best and lets prepare for the worst.
