re: the spreadsheet, i do think it's a good idea to add a column to specify the 'sent MR/PPR' date so that we have a good idea of how long each VO is taking to stamp the visa.

First and foremost, you need your statement in hand before landing. If you don't have that, you risk getting denied entry at the POE (the imm. Officers have that power) so double check with your bank and if you cannot have the statement please find an alternative (another bank or DD).

1400 INR is a small sum to pay for opening the account.
